People that go off to war change a lot in a short amount of time, due to what they experience

Some people go there whole lives barely changing at all

On the plus side: I'm more confident, less shy, generally kinder and more sympathetic to others and less wrapped up in myself. I also have more perspective - stuff and people can still bother me, but I know that after a night's sleep, it will dissipate.

On the minues side: I'm less passionate about stuff, more impatient with incompetence among colleagues, not as ambitious, less likely to be strongly affected by new music/art.

I think a person should strive to get milder and kinder with age.

There has been a precipitious decline in the number of shits I give about other people's opinions particularly in terms of people thinking I'm cool. I'm way more appreciative and patient with my friends and family than I used to be and way less patient with passing acquaintances people on the fringe of my life.

I also see less movies, play less video games, and do more household chores. Pop culture that I would have prioritized in the past is less interesting. Marriage, kids, and home ownership change your priorities more than age with that stuff, but it's all kind of lumped together, getting old and moving on.

I'm WAY more cynical, pesimistic, and idealist about political shit than I used to be, which seems like it should be the opposite. I think I just have a better nose for bull shit.
