International Hamas launches surprise attack on Israel; Israel has declared a state of war Megathread

Does Mandy Patinkin have a valid point?

You disagreed that you align with one of three morally reprehensible stances.

You've already responded and made clear what you think you stand for. Your support for the other two says more about you than I ever could. A failed character. No more needs to be discussed.

I have no doubt that you live a life devoid of much responsibility or moral significance. Maybe someday you can blessed with that. Until then, you’re a lying child.

I bet that made sense in your head. Back to supporting a war that is aimed at land grabs you go.

Hopefully you support Russia in Ukraine and at least have some consistency about your failed character.

If you didn't understand, then it is even more clear to me that you are exactly who I accuse you of being - a dishonest and petulant child who should not be moral grandstanding on the internet.

For the record, I support an end to the war which removes Hamas from power and sets a path forward for a two state solution.
I have never supported annexation or settlement expansion.
I have historically supported Israel's right to prosecute a defensive war following Oct 7th. I believe that the war has been prolonged for Bibi's personal political interests and that it should come to an end.

Hey I mean in 20 months those two clowns couldn't find one crime they would condemn from israel, not ONE.

Not the hundreds of bombs in refugee camps, markets and shelters

Not the destroyed Al Shifa hospital

Not the flour massacre

Not the central world kitchen assassination

Not hind Rajab assassination

Not the recent paramedics and rescue workers executions

Not the rape in sde teiman prison

Not the strike in Al Mawasi last summer that killed dozens of people in a safe zone

No the blockade of aid and organized starvation

Not the daily destruction of houses in the west bank

Not the attacks on medical staff by the IOF in the west bank

Oh and they seemed totally at ease with the trump plan of displacing 1 million Gazans to Libya. Not ethnic cleansing to them. "It's for their own good, we're forced to do mass murder if we don't forcefully displace them from their land"

No one takes them seriously except the few members left of their little gang. They even cried to the forum staff so we can't say the Z word.

They're racial supremacists who want ethnic and religious hegemony in a land that they believe God promised to them 3000 years ago. And they're here to gaslight you telling you they're not until it's done and then they'll be "oops too late now".

Not worth the time of any human being with a heart and soul.

Damn straight. Well said.

Gaza in turmoil: Clans emerge as rivals to Hamas's rule
I think that this article holds the key to an enduring peace in Gaza.

What's not stated in the article is speculation that these groups have M16s (presumably from Israel), and that Israel allows them passage through checkpoints. At a minimum, Israel tolerates, and possibly encourages their existence. And I think that's a good thing, because it's a part of a two-pronged strategy.

To be clear. These groups are currently extremely small and disorganized, currently very regional and territorial. This is very long term thinking. Hamas is still the largest domestic power in Gaza. But Israel aims to 1. Continue to weaken Hamas, and 2. Promote the growth of local gangs. If a gang is able to capture control over a large swath of the Gaza strip, and become even more powerful than Hamas, then the warlord of that gang can declare his rule over Gaza. At that point, Israel could bypass any communications with Hamas, and merely negotiate with the warlord. We see this a lot in African countries.

That could then promote phase 2, where Israel withdraws from Gaza entirely, and keeps supplying the warlord and his gang with military aid for the ensuing civil war, but doesn't need to have boots on the ground, or any direct involvement other than occasional airstrikes. If the general public comes to recognize that the gang is more powerful than Hamas, they will fear the gang more and throw less support to Hamas. Eventually, a gang could rule over Gaza. Hamas members will be persecuted internally and the organization will disintegrate, and Gaza will be ruled by a warlord who, although unlikely to be a pleasant person, will be more driven by a desire to hold onto power than religious fanaticism.

Or you could end up with Afghanistan and endless sectarian conflict and instability.

Not sure warlord of the month is exactly genius foreign policy making.

I've read a military expert explaining it was one of Israel's strategy since the beginning of the conflict. Bribe the local tribes and warlords and give them little pieces of scraps so when they conquer the strip in the future they have armed locals that can "talk" to the population

US envoy says France can 'carve' Palestinian state out of the Riviera

The US ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, said that there is 'no such thing as an occupation' when it comes to the Palestinian territories, and that 'if France is really so determined to see a Palestinian state [it can] carve out a piece of the French Riviera.'

The US ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee has lashed out at France's advocacy for recognition of a Palestinian state, saying that if it supported such an outcome it could "carve out a piece of the French Riviera" and create one.

France is co-chairing with Saudi Arabia this month an international conference at the United Nations aimed at resurrecting the idea of a two-state solution, which the government of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu opposes. Paris has also said it could recognize a Palestinian state itself this year.

In an interview with Fox News published on Saturday, May 31, Huckabee called the initiative at the UN "incredibly inappropriate when Israel is in the midst of a war": "October 7 changed a lot of things," referring to the 2023 Hamas attack on Israel that sparked the war in Gaza.

"If France is really so determined to see a Palestinian state, I've got a suggestion for them − carve out a piece of the French Riviera and create a Palestinian state. They are welcome to do that, but they are not welcome to impose that kind of pressure on a sovereign nation." [but the israelis can decide to pressure a sovereign state in its decision making it's fine that way LOL]

lol at thinking Palestinians could rule and run their own country by themselves even if they get their own state.

They couldn't even prevent Hamas from turning them into personal ATM machines and stealing every resource donated.

They're too busy putting their kids into school plays where they train children to be grown up terrorists and murder jews.

"but genocide is only where there is intent"

I love how suddenly right wingers become champions of the LGBTQIOA+ community when it allows them to justify a full blown genocide...

Religious people are taught homosexuality is wrong so we better go bomb their children and take their land.

LOL

Dude, if I tell you not to walk into lava, as you're telling me "Nah, I heard that shit is actually as harmless as water" that doesn't mean I'm "championing" you. I'm merely trying to stop a retard from killing himself.

Kind of hard to do when literally half the population are kids. 50% are under 18 and 40% are under 14.

So I guess the solution is to kill them all and kick them out.

How exactly can Israel end the war? What more could they do to force a Hamas surrender? Asking for a friend.
