Lol at picking Gus over any of those guys. He is a good fighter but every single one of those guys would be the favorite over him.
Did you see all those shots DC and Jones landed on Gus? Could you imagine if Chuck or Overeem or Rampage landed on him? He would not make it to the final bell.
He has the best chance against Lil Nog and Arona but Lil Nog in 2005 had better boxing and a better ground game than Gus. Arona would probably take Gus down but I will give Gus a 50/50 chance of out striking Ricardo to get the decision.
Shogun blew out his knee before he fought Griffin the first time. He could not train his cardio and that is why he gassed out. He KTFO Forrest in the rematch.

Rampage, who was already on the way downhill beat a prime Machida. Other than working in the clinch which Gus hasn't really done and punching power, he's better than Rampage was in every way. I think Gus takes an easy decision.

He gets caught by "leaps" and counters all the time (a shot Shogun and Cormier were doing it, prime Lyoto would have no problem). Its cool to picture him being defensively sound and using his reach to his advantage but that isnt how he fights. His defense standing is shit
Gus is a good fighter but not great, hes in the Chad Mendes/Kenny Florian mold, well rounded good fighter but not great. The fight against a shot Shogun was basically even through 2 rounds and Shogun came closest to a finish in the fight with that tight kneebar which Alex said he was scared of. Lyoto was great in his prime not merely good like Alex who cant beat top fighters in their prime and Lyoto would win a comfortable decision. Gus would win a round maybe 2 with TDs but hes not beating Lyoto standing.
The Gus wank here is hilarious but its mostly been new breed autists who think past greats cant compete with the top guys now lol. Same dummies were saying that about past MWs before Bisping KTFO Luke.

LHW Overeem really took it to Chuck. He hit him with so many punches and knees in the first few minutes. That was back when Chuck was really durable. Sure, Overeem got knocked out but I don't think Gus would have survived that initial onslaught from Overeem. Plus, Gus does not have the power that Chuck had to turn the tide.
LHW Overeem was no joke. He only lost to the elites like Shogun, Lil Nog and Arona.
Watch him attack Chuck and Shogun. Those flying knees to the body would hurt Gus and Overeem would more than likely finish him.

Gus is the Kenny Florian/Chad Mendes of LHW. Good fighter but he isnt good enough to beat elite fighters.
He lost, get over it. Chad came closer than anyone to beating Jose. Then got rekt by Frankie and KTFO by Conor. Just like Gus he loses when it matters to the elites.
The reality is you think Gus is a much better fighter than he actually is. Im realistic about Lyotos skillset and chances against other elite fighters and im far from a Lyoto fan. But Gus isnt an elite fighter and with his shit defense he isnt outstriking Lyoto.
Pride was the best evar in terms of quality at least from 03-07. Sorry u missed out on the greatest era of MMA and are perpetually butthurt u couldnt live through it so u constantly downplay their fighters or any u dont like like a child.
And anyways u dont need to be the best evar to beat a fighter like Gus. I dont agree with Ez Eric that Reem wouldve beat Gus (it would def be a competitive fight with Reem winning exchanges specially the clinch, but of course youre still butthurt about Reem specially after he outstruck, outskilled and KTFO JDS, God knows what youll do if he beats Stipe too) but everyone else he said definitely would with only question being Arona if he cant get Gus down but considering what Phil Davis did to Gus the moment he got an opening after Gus defended his wrestling, and the fact a shot Shogun had him in a deep kneebar and Arona being one of the most complete MMA grapplers ever, i like his chances.
