No, retard, the idea is to make it harder for criminals to get guns by putting basic background checks in place, and licensing people.
Less strict gun laws have led to a crisis of mass shootings that morons like you seem committed to preventing anyone from stopping
I remember watching a police procedural that took place in the UK. The cops were in a bad part of town by some high rises with people all around. One looked at the other and said “there are 11 known guns in this neighborhood. The ones who own them are rock stars”.There's no demand for it dude. From polls I've seen the majority of Brits think gun control should be even tighter.
I’m not anti-individual gun ownership. At least, I don’t consider myself to be that way. While the love of guns never grabbed me, my dad had a small gun collection and was an avid hunter in his youth and sport shooter in his old age. I have a lot of good memories going out shooting with him. My uncle is the same way. Their dad, my grandfather, used to make guns.Shocked that @BFoe, who I like, is so anti-individual gun ownership.
- You talk like its a bad thing!Ban all guns NOW! Civilians should not be allowed to own ANY guns, only military and some police guys. Can't wait for future president Kamala to lock all you gun nuts up in November
Be patient, you’re gonna get a government soon that will undo all the nonsense.Canadian gun control groups are fucking retarded. They focus on banning legal guns and attacking legal gun owners rather than indigenous people smuggling guns in from the US. The same idiots will try to ban the SKS rifle yet vote for a govt that has a catch and release for gun criminals.
While I agree that it’s poorly written, and that Madison should have gotten his first language in, to say it’s only for militias is wild. If you take that line of thought, you could remove all private ownership.I’m not anti-individual gun ownership. At least, I don’t consider myself to be that way. I have strong opinions on what the 2A is and does. In my view, the 2A doesn’t exist to ensure that you can carry a firearm randomly when you walk down the street, it doesn’t exist so that you can shoot a burglar when he crawls in your window, or what have you. That’s not its purpose.
With the amount of guns in circulation and being used by criminals I want to be able to protect myself against them as much as possible.2A doesn’t exist to ensure that you can carry a firearm randomly when you walk down the street
It should be universally known that if you break into another person's house you are putting your life at serious risk.it doesn’t exist so that you can shoot a burglar when he crawls in your window
I was gonna buy more anyway; you don’t have to sell me.Ban all guns NOW! Civilians should not be allowed to own ANY guns, only military and some police guys. Can't wait for future president Kamala to lock all you gun nuts up in November
Absolutely. The right to defend yourself and your property is a fundamental right. I don’t disagree with that at all. With the amount of guns in circulation and being used by criminals I want to be able to protect myself against them as much as possible.

If you don't like 2A being used for these things then what would you propose to be put in place to guarantee the rights we are talking about?Absolutely. The right to defend yourself and your property is a fundamental right. I don’t disagree with that at all.
What I am saying is, that is not what the 2nd Amendment does. Fundamentally, what he 2A does—or rather, what it did historically— is prevent the federal government from disarming the populace because the states needed an armed populace to defend the state in the form of an organized militia. That’s basically it.
I think that groups like the NRA, or Federalist Society, or SCOTUS these days, have successfully intertwined the ideas in the public consciousness so well that when I say these things people automatically assume that must mean that I oppose gun ownership, or that I oppose self defense rights, and neither is true. What I oppose is the 2A being manipulated to encompass things it wasn’t meant to encompass.
