Guess how much UFC fighters can bench press?

Im gonna post a pic of Nick Newell and say having two arms is useless for fighting..
Point is it's only helps having a strong press can only be a good thing

he's one guy that hasnt even broken out of regional mma. i am posting a large selection of elite fighters, even very strong guys like tito, light heavyweights like gus, goat candidates like anderson. no pecs at all. you thought you had something with the nick newell comment huh? he's one guy. guys with large developed pecs in mma are exceptions, except at heavyweight where they arent trying to make weight, and to be honest loads of heavyweights have small chests anyway. why are all these guys skipping chest day? yknow, all these guys, instead of your one example, one guy who is causing a lot of controversy because people are worried he is going to get murdered when he comes out of the bush league?

heres some more flat-chested elite mma fighters to wither your boner

why dont these fighters build their chests? seriously why dont they do it? everyone knows what bench press is. hey, why don't these fighters build their chest?

do you know why these fighters don't build their chest?

i'd love to know why these fighters don't build their chests

hey, why arent there more fighters with only one hand?

if you can't bench 280+ you are a manlet.

Lol posting a pic of Jon Jones someone who benches heavy frequently please I can cherry pick pics of dad bod fighters and talk about how having a lean fit body is useless for mma...
Fact is there is no negatives to strong bench only positives, theres no benefit to having weak bitch tits.

nothing wrong with arched back

It means you're taking the lift away from your chest, and transferring it to your legs. Good for lifting more weight to impress your friends/compete. Shit for developing actual muscle growth.
It's an ego exercise. When people wonder why their chest growth stagnates, I tell them to drop down their weights and get their arse and lower back on the bench. It does wonders for
functional muscles.

Explain the disadvantage s of a strong bench? I will wait.

Second stop confusing muscle hypertrophy with muscle strength, I tjink you need to ask yourself why you feel you think more than the world's top strength and conditioning coaches?
Btw werdum benches it can be seen on his Instagram as does Velasquez.

Do yourself a favor and look at the us wrestling team find me how many guys have weak flabby chest, it's not necessary for fighting however it only helps, having flabby bitch tits doesn't help sorry

your arguments are pathetic. show me a powerlifter who trains bench and has a small chest. show me the routine that lets you siginificantly gain strength without gaining size. heres a mr universe next to a couple of guys who only care about strength and dont care at all about aesthetics

i'm sure fighters actually have to bench a certain amount to balance out the far more important pulling muscles like the lats. i would speculate that you are heavily invested in homoerotic images of strength, but instead i'd settle for a "shucks, a lot of very strong and succesful fighters sure have small chests". go look at the size of latifi or cormiers back, compared to their chests.

mma fighters have only so much energy and time they can devote to training, and its pretty clear that working on those bench numbers, while OBVIOUSLY on the list since they have to do a large range of exercises, bench press is clearly way down the list. hey you know what else would only help their fighting? having strong toes, for like walking and all that! and having strong eyes, for...seeing their opponent! having a strong stomach will help them digest food! i bet having a strong chest would help also, this seems like a unique, key insight to me. wow. but for sure i'd like to see those toe curl numbers come up, i mean, its only going to help. and stronger eyelids would help them stay awake longer, there are no disadvantages to this so they really should work on that

i'm gonna stop posting in this thread because ive made my point with total authority and your sad denial kinda grosses me out. gonna go for a run bro, you can get back to your pressups

You still haven't told me the negatives of a strong bench
Lol posting pics of huge framed powerlifters.....out of all the pics you posted more than half of those guys bench probably because the worlds best strength and conditioning coaches usually recommend getting strong a large compound movements.
How is my argument pathetic? Lol you're getting triggered dood there is absolutely no negative to having a strong bench and no positive for weak flabby tits.

My flat freeweight bench is so pathetic right now. I used a Smith machine for a few years, with dumbbells and hammer strength, and I figured I was doing good getting those up.. But I went to free weight flat bench a week ago, and all my stabilization muscles are basically GONE. I put on 275, because I used to do 335 for reps, and thought I would start easy, but nope.. not happening. I currently weigh like 244.

Anyways, I would say those are decent benches. Not great, but pretty good.

What’s the criteria?

How many reps ?

I can do 100 lbs but I do 10 reps with 6 sets , half sets are inclined bench press. Reps do go down to like 7 by the last set.

How is a military press more functional than a bench in your mind?
Because you're standing? How often do you press something over your head in mma?
A bench involves more muscles, it's a bigger compound, most people who shit on the bench have a weak bench

Not really. What is a harder exercise? Military press is harder. You are pushing upwards. It requires more force as you are restricted in terms of movement. For a fighter, doing bench isnt as important as say deadlifts or military press. Also power cleans are more useful than bench. Actually its probably one of the best. Military combined with power clean is the perfect exercise.

Why would lifting UP with your arms be more indicative of "true, real, functional" strength than pushing straight FORWARD, in a sport like MMA?

All compound exercises are important for athletes. Rows and chins are 2 other ones.
I want to correct myself. I mean power cleans combined with military press. My bad. They ate more beneficial than say a chest press.

You totally (deliberately) seem to miss the point "In the liver" is trying to make. Both your negative and positive aren't quantifiable in any way. Ask yourself, would Werdum have had significant more success if his bench press had been stronger? Would Barnett have had significant more sucess if his chest looked less flubby?

the crazy thing is he havnt been training for 6 years. And I mean any such training at all , not even some push ups
Damn. You are a genetic freak haha. Dont train at all and then come in and beat people up in a fight.

One thing people forget is cardio. I mean those who specifically train for strength and power. You got to find the right balance and make sure you have adequate aerobic capacity to complement your power and strength. Mma training, weights and some sprint workout would be ideal. Worked for me when i was training consistently. I have a karate background. Now, i just focus on lifting and sprints lol. Things change when you get older cause of your job, partner etc. I wish i could do wrestling but fucking Australia do not have wrestling schools.
You guys in america are really lucky. America is better for literally everything in terms of facilities.

Point is it's only helps having a strong press can only be a good thing
A lot of fighters will tell you that focusing on lifting only hurts you

I know some fighters who never touch a barbell

So the take home lesson here is the less you bench the better fighter you are?

Does it make a difference in upper body strength? Yes.
Ask yourself when technique is equal what comes into play? Strength..
If fabricio adds major lbs to all his compounds including the bench it will indirectly make him a better grappler/fighter.
There's a reason why these fighters do lift and don't just drill

It's harder to do a shoulder press because there's less muscles involved and the delts are much smaller than the lats and chest
There's no way it's more functional both are good lifts.
A clean to press I agree is more functional but not Just a millitary press
