Tarkovsky was an absolute genius film maker. I'd recommend everything he's done. Start with Solaris, then Stalker, then Mirror.

The man From Earth- I know this one has been suggested already, but what a great story driven movie.

Enemy- Not sure if this one is sci fi or not? Could go either way, a good movie reguardless.

Did you see the Netflix movie Spectral?
It was surprisingly ok.

Watched spectral due to your recommendation....and I must say that shit was legitimate bro.

Being a gen x'er I did see some heavy borrowing from Cameron's Aliens.

Other than that must say it was good old fashion sci fi good effects too .

Sherbros gave me a Good list itt to casually watch over the next several months.

Yeah, I was gonna mention that as well. A little bit much of Aliens inspired but its cool. For being a non major release and with a tight budget it worked well.
