Good but unknown sci fi movie gems

Here's the trailer. People rave about it constantly. I guess there's a major video game based on the book now.

i watched Stalker recently and was a little disappointed. it's good, but i think i was too hyped for it, and i definitely prefer Tarkovsky's Solyaris.

lots of good recommendations here, so i'll just add a couple of post-apocalyptic movies (both from 1975 coincidentally).

A Boy and His Dog:

Fun, weird post-apocalyptic movie about a young Don Johnson and his telepathic dog. Gets real strange in the third act, but it has one of my favorite final moments in film history.

The Noah:

Also weird post-apocalyptic "last man on earth" movie. Great performance by Robert Strauss in his final film as he tries to grapple with his solitude. Also has a wild, disorientating third act (which actually reminds me a bit of mother! now that I think about it). The full movie is also available on YouTube.

The Man from Earth (my favourite)

Timecrimes (very beatiful spanish film)

Moon (very good)

Coherence (has some defects but still good)

Primer (very good idea and very well done, but a little to much complicated)

Was gonna list all of these except Time Crimes, haven't seen that.

Not sure if it was mentioned but "Sunshine" is awesome.

Not sure how known it is but Galaxy Quest is a fun sci fi.

Damn got beat to the punch but Sunshine is highly recommended along with Pandorum

Buck Rogers was pretty good as a Kid:

The Stalker video games have been out for years now bro and they're awesome

Parallels was really good
There's a Netflix original called Spectral that's kind of sci fi that it really good. Other than that, people already mentioned Primer, Dark City, Predestination, and a bunch of other great ones.

Lifeforce for that one actress who was mostly buck naked in all her scenes.

They Call Me Jeeg is movie on Netflix that was entertaining. Some crook running from the law steps into some radioactive waste and gets superpowers. I think it is Italian made, but has English subs.

Two that I saw recently and enjoyed were Star Trek: First Contact (1996) and Contact (1997). Not exactly unknown, but worth mentioning.

Look what popped up at the end of my link to the Stalker trailer.

The full version. With English subs.
