Gone Zero Carb.

I've always read that there was a pretty solid link with very low density lipos and atherosclerosis so that would be news to me.

His bloodwork is in:

Pretty outrageous increases in cholesterol levels and LDL 'bad' cholesterol. However, if you look at his triglyeride to HDL ratio, it's really really low. ~0.4 to 1. Wilhelm posted some info earlier about how TG/HDL ratio was the best indicator of heart disease: Here's the link to the original article:

The Heart Attack Culprit: Cholesterol Isn't to Blame

Interesting. Wonder what this means for his heart risk if the best indicator looks great but his overall cholesterol levels are high.

holy shit! still, 433 total cholesterol is absolutely nuts. i guess most of that is just preconditioned response, but still. And like you said the ratio is much more telling.

Lolz. That was me. I was just giving some info I picked up from wilhelm's thread.

So CC's left foot hasnt posted in here in a while.

Can we get an update? Weight, BF%, general feelings?

Man ive seen people around the gym on these and they get kind of delusional. I think your brain needs glucose

If you're taking a vitamin to cover the necessary vitamins to help prevent serious conditions and illnesses from occurring, why wouldn't you just eat the carb that fulfills that role?

From an evolutionary standpoint, it is hard to argue pro for these isolated diets for the mass population. You're trying to defy hundreds if not thousands of years of evolution of the human being. Start to think of how many different fruits and vegetables that could be considered human specific as we would be the only ones to successfully access them.

I'm not sure i follow your logic here. These fruits and vegetables are supposedly human specific because only humans have access to them? Therefore humans have to eat them?

I hope I am misunderstanding you because the above interpretation is rife with logical fallacy.

BTW which fruits and vegetables are you even talking about?

some of the comments through this thread are just weird... its like they don't bother to read any of the resiurces or studies linked and just make blanket statements based on tehir own (very limited) knowledgem why comment if you're not interested in the WOE?

It does. But your brain gets enough glucose from the conversion of other macros, with the rest of the energy you need provided by ketones. In other words, the body has another mode of providing energy to the brain when not eating any carbs.

the first couple weeks of carb restriction are rough but once your body gets used to it, it's not very noticable.

the only carbs I get really are from fruits and vegetables and I guess yogurt and also peanut butter

broccoli
spinach
tomatoes
asparagus
apples
bananas
cabbage
yogurt
peanut butter

chicken, beef, fish

all these things are all I really eat on a regular basis

Hmm. Once I figure out the specifics, I might incorporate this into my plan. People will give me the weirdest looks as I walk up to the cashier at the grocery store with a cart full of meat.

Question for the knowledgeable: does meat contain vitamins by virtue of the animal having eaten plants containing those vitamins?

you probably eat things that contain vitamins so don't you think that YOU probably contain vitamins?

Can we get an update? Weight, BF%, general feelings?

Weight and BF% still dropping, albeit slower than I had hoped. I have been too busy for a workout because I've been preparing to move. I think my natural weight might be higher than I expected, but who knows.

One lesson I've learned: If you're going to eat steak, get ribeye and cook it rare. Period.

Soon I might transition to very low carb (VLC) due to being kinda bored by the lack of variety. I have always been sort of a food connoisseur, and on VLC I would be able to have probably 90% of my favorite foods.

But for now I'm still meatatarian. It's actually surprisingly hard to stop this WOE. I am very adapted to it now.

I am almost at a 0 carb diet, and after the first few days I felt amazing. I make sure to take extra care with my PWO, but aside from that I feel like I am on diet cruise control, which is amazing. I also feel it is going to be difficult to stop this diet, as I am no acclimated to my energy output levels and my general working energy.

Yesterday I tried some carbs as I am running a pretty long race this weekend...they did not sit well with me at all.

I have seen very noticeable changes in my BF%, it was hovering around 14% pre diet and I imagine it is around 9% now. I have not had an opportunity to get the caliper test done recently so I don't have concrete data.

How much weight have you lost so far? Over how long?

About how many calories do you think you eat per day?
