The Kurosawa mode is a straight copy of RDR2's dead shot / old western sepia mode.
They probably saw it, wanted to copy it but since it’s japanese samurai, homed in on Kurosawa.

Not bad but hardly inspired. The weak AI, lack of polish and game play imagination betray that.
They should pay their art designer a hefty bonus because without him / them, this would just be another samurai game up for a 25% discount in 3 months.

Still looks a very good buy but it could’ve been so much more.
You’re thinking of Ghost Mode, not Kurosawa.

Quick question...

Does the game get harder?...

I am about (maybe 10-12 hours into the game). Picked up all but one stance and I am kinda breezing through all my opponents. I bumped up the difficulty to hard about 4-5 hours ago and I am still kicking ass. The gameplay is easy to pick up and responsive and I employ a run/dodge and attack type of style if I am not ninja killing people. Every once in a while i'll die (lose a faceoff or forget to heal) but usually this game isn't very challenging.

Lol no, bump it up to Lethal even. You kill enemies faster but they can burn through your health quick so it makes it slightly more challenging.

The game has a few difficulty spikes at the start of each Act due to adding upgraded versions of the enemies. Generally speaking though it doesn’t get much more difficult especially after you’ve run into those upgraded enemies and see their new moves.

I agree with Dizzy about playing on Lethal. It’s harder but again, never really gets too bad. Duels can be pretty tough if you go into them with no resolve but aside from that they are challenging sometimes but never too hard.

Duuudes… Maybe I am not so good at this game now.. LOL.

I bumped this shit up to Lethal difficulty. Yeah I was dying a bit faster if they connect but it forced me to get good you know. It wasn't bad at all. I was dying a few times to encounters now but that's cool. Enjoying it immensly. Then I tried to finish Act I (by accident.. triggered the event). Well everything was going smoothly till I reached the boss. Well guess what?.. FUCK that c**t. That piece of cheating motherfucker was one-shotting me almost every fuckin' swing. If not it was leaving me with little to no health. Adjusted all my charms put on my best armor... NOPE. I tried and tried for maybe an hour I am guessing and then just gave up. I was too under-levelled and either had to drop the difficulty or go back and level up some more.

So I quit the mission and finished up all the side missions, roamed around and cleared up as clouded areas on the map looking for anything to upgrade me (fox dens, hot baths, etc...) levelled up my weapon and armor. Once I was satisfied (weapon was 2 away from max but whatever) I went back in aannnnnd… suffered through almost another hour and half of continuous death. Three times I almost killed him and then he would rush me continously or counter super fast and kill me out of nowhere... omg... i was so triggered. I lost track of time on how long I played against this boss or how many times I died but it was an insane amount I think.

Anyway I beat the fucker and now i feel fuckin' invincible. There's nothing this game can throw at me that can frustrate me anymore... (famous last words)... Onwards to Act 2!!!

Another question:
1. Do the different facemask and headgear do anything? I am not seeing any differences aside from aesthetics.
2. Does it matter what haiku phrase you pick when you meditate? Haven't seen any difference based on my choices so far.

The game is gorgeous by the way. I am also getting memorable vibes from Zelda Breath of the Wild because I am roaming around aimless at times cause I would see something in the horizon and be like.. okay I wanna see what that's about..

This game is so fun and beautiful looking. It's very easy to get sidetracked but that is fun. I've probably put around 30 hours or so and finally just finished Act I. I've always been a sucker for samurai movies/history so this game hits extra special for me.

The only things that give stat bonuses are the things that actually tell you. So the facemasks/helmets don't do anything aside from looks.

And yeah, the duels in Lethal will always be like that. Even end game when I had maxed out armor and for the most part had charms suited for survival and a good amount of max health buffs I would die to some attacks in duels in 1 hit, and other attacks would be 2-3 shot kills. Often they attack in combinations so even though something might be a 2 shot kill on you, if you don't react to the first hit you usually get bopped by the second one too.

I would recommend managing your resolve so you have a few at all times just in case you are about to have a duel. Sometimes it's more obvious than other times, but basically if you go into a tough Duel with no or very little resolve it makes it 100x harder as you can't heal yourself or revive yourself.

Cool. Thanks for the reply.

Yeah no worries on resolves. I am usually full most of the time from parrying/countering. Even when I am dueling I generally fill it back up real quickly. I mean worst case scenario I am completely dry and toss the next fight refilling it up.

dont know about lethal, but the fsamurai clan armour if you put the right charms like the one that gain resolve % you basically get back the resolve from the damage you take. I just tried other armours because that armour was basically tank levels and made the game too easy.

Am I the only one who gets.confused by the wind direction thing? Is there a button to make the wind appear?

Slide your finger upwards on the touchpad to summon the wind. Wind will point towards your targeted goal on the map.

it's like 1 of 4 games that actually use the touchpad capabilities. Swiping up does the wind, left plays the flute which changes the weather, swipe right sheathes and unsheathes your sword, down is a bow.

I finished the story. The amount of main missions is damn near minuscule compared to other open world games. Thankfully there are a lot of side missions and challenges to explore still. It’ll still keep me busy for a while, and I’ll definitely be replaying from the beginning as well. Overall I find the game to be somewhere between very good and great.

just finished the game, was a great ride, but I didnt finish all the side quests was already starting to get repetitive , so I wanted to end it already. I kinda expected the ending but it was bittersweet.

by the way what happens if you let your uncle live? Does he resent you more?

Oooooooo....

at the end the Yarikawa story (saving the town) when you activate that special skill for the first time... just finished it and...

that was fucking badass!!!
