I already got my plat. Was a great game overall, not sure if they will do a sequel. In real history it was over the course of years. But how it ended seems one and done. Maybe they could do a main island different time "sequel"

I thought the gameplay was excellent, fun and overall enjoyable. Samurai movies were hardly ever in my queue, so I enjoyed the story. The visuals, the landscapes, the arenas and music were all excellently done. I enjoyed the two different styles of boss and mini-boss fights (arena vs free-roam) and no doubt it’s a great GOTY contender. However, the games level of difficulty wasn’t really satisfying and I found myself slowly becoming board with the combat. Sure, they have inventive ways of tackling different camp layouts with fun Ghost weapons and other things, but if it doesn’t present a challenge it really isn’t that engaging.

I felt that this game suffered for much of the same reasons Shadow of Mordor did. The early game side-quests allowed you to level up so much that had you completed 100% of the first map you could probably finish the game on Hard without issue at your current level.

Mongol armor is stupid op lol. I literally just walk up and chain kill then slaughter then ghost stance, boom camp is done.

Wish they had some sort of Samurai arena when you’re done .

like an option to duel straw hats and extra hard Ryuzo type guys.

Yeah, that would have been cool. If they do some sort of sequel in the future (maybe a Jin descendent in the Sengoku period?) they should do something like that and include the famous figures from that time period.

The way the game ended I feel like they didn't intend for there to be a direct sequel. I also think staying in that same time period could be kind of weird and maybe not too interesting to do again. A sequel taking place in another time period like the Sengoku period could be interesting I think even though that era might be overdone when it comes to video games

It’s so easy to get sidetracked in this game. It’s gonna take me forever to finish it.

yeah you go to a marked mission then you see a golden bird or fox then wander away hahha.

btw they patched the farming bug to get unlimited supplies.

anyone how to reach those temples where the golden bird takes you near the monks? It's usually where you can collect gifts. I'm just it's just a banner or headpiece but I don't know where it is.

Climb up the pagoda with your grappling hook.

where is the R2 part to climb on to? Also is that thing called the pagoda or the temple lol. sorry.
Idk, I call them pagodas if they’re a tall, multi-tiered building. I usually jump by the corner underneath it and aim my camera up. That usually triggers it.

I used the samurai one, travelers when I’m exploring, the family armor and for a while now I’ve been using Ghost with a charm that enhances my terror chance.

White dye vendor is in act one, black is in act two. They’re completely separate from the other merchants but you use flowers just the same. They’re fairly well hidden in the land too.

nice I've found the black and white vendors but they never have anything new. Do they appear later" I'm about to start chapter 3.

Not that I’ve seen. I’m at the end of the game, have every set I can get right now, and they still only had some for five of the outfits.

Finally finished the main story. Enjoyed the hell out of my journey. Exploring always felt rewarding, never tedious, and the combat was engaging enough to keep me wanting more. I really loved my time with Ghosts. Yeah there are some polish issues and I wasn’t very invested in the story, but the issues I had with it were overall pretty minor.

This is a modern classic imo, even in spite of its flaws.

For a game that tries to pay homage to Kurosawa the storytelling and editing are very basic. Even in main quests. Lack of imagination. Similar arcs of cutscene - walking - combat. Mostly following footsteps. They didn't put a lot of thought into quests.

The Kurosawa mode is a straight copy of RDR2's dead shot / old western sepia mode.
They probably saw it, wanted to copy it but since it’s japanese samurai, homed in on Kurosawa.

Not bad but hardly inspired. The weak AI, lack of polish and game play imagination betray that.
They should pay their art designer a hefty bonus because without him / them, this would just be another samurai game up for a 25% discount in 3 months.

Still looks a very good buy but it could’ve been so much more.
