Halle (Saxony-Anhalt): Shots were fired in the Paulus quarter in front of the synagogue on Wednesday afternoon. At least two people are said to have been killed. In addition, a hand grenade is said to have been thrown at the Jewish cemetery. The perpetrator is said to have fired several shots with a submachine gun, shot a woman and injured several people. The shooter is said to be fleeing in the direction of Leipzig. The police asked the people in Halle to stay in their homes or to go to safe places. Currently (1 pm German time) there is to be an exchange of fire in Wiedersdorf (near Queis).

I would say it's bullshit. The submachine gun part was me auto-translating, the original quote essentially said 'machine gun'. I would assume that people here (including me) generally don't know shit about guns (we have a lot of sports shooters, but I doubt those were on site).

The video, which shows one of the suspects, also seems to show a pump gun rather than anything machine gun related. Let's wait and see.

At least with m-16/m-4 is differentiated with ar-15. Need a linguistic term for the Ak-47s to differentiate the action.
