Tech Gaming Hardware discussion (& Hardware Sales) thread

Wallets screaming everywhere soon lol. Eventually finding its way to homes.

"NVIDIA has teased the imminent launch of its next-gen data center GPUs codenamed “Hopper” in a blog post. These GPUs were initially expected to feature a chiplet or modular design, packing two identical dies much like AMD’s Instinct MI200. However, according to the latest reports, it’ll be a monolithic design with a size approaching the 1000mm^2 figure. Considering that it’ll retain TSMC’s N5 process node, that makes a lot of sense. The H100 is going to pack 9,216 FP32 + INT32 cores and 4,608 FP64 cores, making it roughly 30% faster than the A100 on paper."

Yes, but I just know what I've read anecdotally on here. Apparently it's the best controller you'll ever own, but there is a serious concern with stick drift within 3-6 months. Of course, that might just be a loud minority. It is averaging 4.6* on Amazon (though I think buyers are less likely to revise reviews six months down the road if a product has issues).

It's marked down to $140 from Microsoft directly.

  • Adjustable tension thumbsticks (thumbstick-adjustment tool included)
  • Shortened trigger locks
  • Wrap-around rubberized grip
  • Customizable buttom mapping not available to standard controllers (ex. you can make one button a "modifier" key like CTRL/ALT/SHIFT on keyboards where it changes the hotkey function of every other key)
  • 40-hr rechargeable battery (2050 mAh vs. 1310 mAh in the Rechargeable Battery accessory for the Xbox Series X controller)
  • Interchangeable Thumbsticks --> Set of 6 thumbsticks: Standard (2), Classic (2), Tall (1), Wide Dome (1)
  • Interchangeable Paddles --------> Set of 4 paddles: Medium (2), Mini (2)
  • Interchangeable D-Pads ---------> Set of 2 D-pads: Standard, Faceted
  • Charging dock included
  • 9' USB-C cable included
  • Carrying case

Well, it arrived today.

Definitely has a great feel (very solid construction and weighty which I like) with some rubber grips and seemingly metal triggers. There's a lot of buttons on the back of it and paddles of some variety which I don't understand yet, but it's pretty sweet piece of equipment.
also trying to get use to the D pad, as it's not like a cross but instead a full on circle. There's a cross in the case, so I guess the D-pad can be swapped as suggested above, but I want to give the faceted one a chance to get use to to see if I can learn to prefer it or not.

Normally wouldn't post a video like this, but it's unlisted. $70 is a bit steep.

"NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 3070 Ti is going for as low as $699 at Microcenter, just $100 over its launch MSRP of $599. This particular GPU which has been a bestseller worldwide due to its unique position in the upper midrange segment was recently spotted for the same price a short while back but sold out almost immediately. This particular listing has been live for several hours now, indicating that stocks are improving, although there’s still a one household per unit limitation."

First off, where? What Microcenter? Why are you re-pasting this stupid shit? Have you actually checked your spam? I just checked the Tustin store's listings, the only Microcenter in CA, and there are zero 3070 Ti's in stock. Know what is in stock? 3050's. Starting at $389.

Second, even if a few have them, who fucking cares? This is like when @rob mafia kept trying to insist that Zen 3 CPUs were easily obtainable in the winter and early spring of last year because (only about half of the) Microcenter locations nationwide were able to keep them in stock for sale in-store only. And they'll be gone by the end of the day, anyway; gobbled up even if MC restricts sales to one per person.

Is this because you can't come to terms with the fact you already gullibly regurgitated the dumb shit that popped up in your feed about GPU prices coming down? Because you didn't see that clickbait headline the first 15 times over the past year and a half? Are you still trying to save face over that?

"The Office of the United States Trade Representative has reinstated 352 products into its exclusion list, which governs the Chinese imports subject to increased, punitive tariffs as part of the US-China trade war. The revised listing now once again excludes Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) from the added duties. PCBs are used to manufacture motherboards, GPUs, and a range of other electronic components."

Just saw that Nvidia was increasing production of their GPU's. Thought it was good news.

I have 2 MCs locally and the cheapest 3070 Ti is $830 (and in-store only).

Duluth:

The cheapest used 3070 Ti on Ebay right now is $785.

I understand but I am still confident as we get closer to Nvidia announcement of the 40X0 series prices of 30X0 will come to earth "with release dates". The race to buy 40X0 series will be on. Plus Intel going to be showing off their largely mid to mid high end GPU's to the world. The number of GPU's on the market will increase. Good news all around.

Won't that still depend on miners? With BTC still above 40k it's hard to see GPU demand not continuing to outstrip supply.

I think GPU mining losing out to ASCI mining due mostly the cost vs return. The time it takes to see an investment return it's pretty substantial. At one point it was like days to weeks now years. ASCI's is failing behind too but not as bad.

my elite series 2 caught stick drift on the left analog after a year, but i barely used the thing much at all! not gonna take my chances again with these.

wish i could find a strix 3080ti without having to sell a kidney and pay a scalper. even the retailers are gauging too hard for what theyve got left in stock. and i dont have a microcenter nearby. if this shit keeps up ill probably be stuck with my 2080 forever. but i guess i dont really need an upgrade right now anyways. i just kinda want one to be set for whatever unoptimized games that gets put out down the road.

2080 is still a fine card even at 4k.

ASUS likely timed this like a joke but said 30x0 series cards are getting price reduction on get this April 1st yeah I see what you did there ASUS. All seriousness ASUS after taking a ton of crap over the date said it is legit. We will see.

Thanks President Biden? Yeah I know wrong forum lol.

"
Asus says it’ll be lowering the price of its RTX 30-series cards (it lists the 3050, 3060, 3070, 3080, and 3090) by up to 25 percent. To list some examples based on Best Buy’s pricing, a 25 percent price reduction would take a Tuf 3060 12GB from $550 to $412.50, a Strix 3070 8GB from $825 to $618.75, and a Tuf 3080 12GB from a whopping $1,500 to $1,125 (though do note that Asus is saying the reductions will be up to 25 percent, and it hasn’t released details for any specific cards).

The company says that consumers will see the lower prices “starting on April 1st, 2022” and coming to “different models throughout the springtime.”"

EDIT: On a side note one journalist using that with a grain of salt in tech news said it was likely caused by suppliers over committing to GPU's due to shortages during COVID now getting flooded with chips. They had nothing or next to nothing now a an over supply especially interesting timing with Intel around the corner with their GPU's fitting just below a 3050 to just above a 3070ti performance wise based on reports.

Well ASUS made it official with 699 the new price for their very popular RTX 3070ti graphics card but the best price I could find is 799 on Amazon.

https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-Graphics-DisplayPort-Military-Grade-Certification/dp/B096YPLGHG

Their being a little cagey about the prices right now still they are coming down slowly.
That's a good price for the 3070 Ti, about $60 under what it's been for that specific AIC recently, and about $40 under what the cheapest AICs have been, but I don't know why you're surprised to see that MSRPs aren't setting the effective market price for GPUs. Do you live under a rock?
