TWO hamster wheels? this will double the power of my current build! and hamtaro will have a friend!

Finally broke down and ordered up components for my new desktop.
After 8, yes 8, years, i will be retiring my AMD Phenom II X4. This Win7 build has been rock solid for me, never rebuilt. Only 2 dead items in the computer after all those years, one of my intake fans died around a year ago and the CMOS battery finally died about 2 months ago. Ran a 3D Mark on the computer yesterday to compare to how it scored when i first built it, and performance was only slightly lower.

Here's the components for my next build:

MSI X570-A PRO Motherboard
AMD Ryzen 7 3800X
Microsoft OEM Windows 10 Home, 64-Bit
RAIDMAX Scorpio series RX-735AP-S 735W
Corsair Force MP600 M.2 2280 500GB PCI-Express Gen 4.0
Cooler Master MasterBox MB600L ATX Mid-Tower
MSI GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER
Ballistix Sport LT 32GB (2 x 16GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3200 (PC4 25600)
Noctua NF-F12 PWM, Premium Quiet Fan, 4-Pin (120mm, Brown) - x3

I'll probably pickup a new monitor in a few months to replace one of my older 24" 1080p monitors (I run a dual 24" monitor setup). Will carry over my DVD player and both of my mechanical hard drives from my current rig to my new one. May replace the Wraith cooler that comes with the Ryzen 7, will see how temps are after everything is setup before i make that determination.

I may be wrong but I believe there was only a 2% difference between 3700x and the 3800x in terms of speed, which depending on the costs now doesn't really make it worth it. Unless you need the extra TDP headroom.

This guy built one of the most unique and beautiful computer cases I have ever seen. His channel is full of amazing custom builds.

Well that's somewhat disappointing. But since i usually build my computers to last at least 5 years, maybe i'll be able to make use of the extra TDP when i replace the Wraith in the future.

Lol at Gamers Nexus Cyber Power coverage. "Ideas case manufacturers will steal sponsored by Thermaltake."

There's no reason to buy a 3800x unless you want to purposely waste money for no gain.
Take the $50 savings and buy a better cooler now. For $60 you can buy something like the Scythe Fuma 2 that competes with the big boys.

@Madmick

I was under the impression he already purchased his 3800X, but yes, concurred. Definitely go with the 3700X and a stronger cooler unless you're scoring some kind of crazy deal that makes the 3800X the same price. @Woldog was on the money. In fact, after the latest BIOS revisions, I believe the 3800X was only ~1.5% superior to the 3700X across the gamut: not even 2%.

Here's the cooler Jeff mentioned. Best bang-for-your-buck although considering how rarely you like to build I'd recommend Noctua based on warranty. Everyone else in the CPU cooler game sports a 2-year warranty. Noctua brings 7-10 yrs depending on the cooler:

If Noctua you'd probably want the NH-U14S, NH-D14, NH-D15S (single fan version) or the granddaddy NH-D15 (dual-fan). Some like the downward-blowing coolers for Ryzen, and the NH-C14S is probably the best of all such coolers if you decide to go that route (assuming it makes sense in your overall setup).

I was under the impression he hadn't bought yet, my bad.
Arctic offers a 10 year warranty on both the Freezer 33 & 34 eSports edition coolers. Even their budget F series fans and P series, which can be found in 5 packs of 120mm fans for less than $30, have a 10 year warranty.
I recently picked up their new 240mm AIO and I'm really impressed with it so far. If you haven't looked into reviews of it yet, I would highly recommend it. They're offering the best bang for the buck in AIO's imo and there's no RGB.

Arctic's stuff may be budget but I've been really happy with everything I've gotten from them so far.

yeah, unfortunately i wasted the extra cash on the 3800x. i did get it on sale, but it wasn't 50$ off ! lol

thanks for the reco's of aftermarket cpu cooler and fans. those arctic fans are cheap, may pick up a few, throw a 3rd front fan into my new build, and keep a couple as backups.

Good ol Thernaltake still ripping off other people’s designs.

Corsair is getting back in the air cooling game, but with a swing and a miss. It's only 4 heat pipes, non RGB ML120 fans, and is priced at $100. Preorders are up on Corsairs website and will start shipping in a week. When you can buy a Dark Rock Pro or NHD15 for less money, this makes no sense.

Just remember those Arctic fans aren't going to compete with the Noctua's for air flow or noise, but the F series is highly regarded as the best bang for the buck fan. If you do decide to go with them, make sure to get the PWM PST versions, that version allows you to daisy chain them together.

AMD is going to have to lower the price of the 5600xt's. When 5700's (non XT) have been regularly hitting that $300 price point, why would you spend $280 on a lower tier card.
Who knows parts are popping up everywhere all over the place. New news Nvidia could be coming out with a completely new Navi chip that's a monster in size and performance. The funny part people orginally thought the benchmarks where from a yet unnamed AMD GPU. It turns out it's very likely a new Nvidia part. It's over 30 percent faster then the 2080ti and clobbered anything from AMD. It turns out what happened it was tested by a vendor using a 4 gen AMD rumored CPU part.

What AMD needs to do is spend some of that surge of cash on their driver department.
I don't have much hope for AMD releasing a high end gpu to compete in the high end department in gaming. I'm surprised they don't have a newer version of the Radeon Vll.

Today is the LAST day that Microsoft will support Win7.

"How do I upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10? How much will it cost me?
You can buy and download Windows 10 via Microsoft's website for $139. While Microsoft technically ended its free Windows 10 upgrade program in July 2016, as of January, CNET has confirmed that the free update is still available for Windows 7"

If you didn't get it for free when they were offering it, now is your last chance...
