Not sure if the price match works, but if it does, holy shit is this a steal:

Old motherboard i had to place a purchase order in for the M.2 screw for it didnt come with it. Newer motherboard came with one. However its the size of a fucking eye glass screw. Took me ten minutes to get it sit right. Then the flathead i use on my eyeglasses to screw it in.

Elevation screw that MSI use that doubles as a fastening screw should be standard.

Buy a screwdriver magnetizer and throw in your toolbox/drawer, they're about $3. You can find them at Home Depot, Walmart, Harbor Freight, etc.

Precision screwdrivers are cheap as well especially if you have a Harbor Freight around. They even show up regularly at dollar stores.

I have the tools. For these size screws i need that tool which has a locking mechanism fixating the screw to the driver till its somewhat set in the thread. I always had problems handling miniature assembly items since middle school. Its one of those tools i only need once every decade.

My friend is buying a new gaming pc and he is asking if I want to buy his old one. It has gtx 960, i5-4460 and 8gb ram. Its a build from 2015 so its not gonna do well on newer games, but I just want to play modded elder scroll and fallout games with it, maybe some overwatch. This build should be good enough for those right? How much should I pay for that setup?

Do you know how much storage it has, and if that storage is an SSD or HDD?

500gb ssd and some hdd space too, not sure how much though

100 to 150.

Its a weird situation. For everything in that build indicates a budget build by 2015 standards. Good thing is that the system exactly meets the recommended system requirements for Overwatch.

I upgraded my ram. So i have 2x16gigs of DDR4 2400 for sale. Like when i sold my 970GTX here i dont care what someone pays me, just cover the shipping costs.

You may be spoiled by your location if that's the used price you'd expect. Can you find me a Craiglist or eBay used unit with specs near this for that price from a reputable seller? If he is in central or southern California that might be normal, but most other places, especially less metro areas, I doubt you'd see prices that good.

Here is a contemporary equivalency although the RX 570 video card in this build is ~50% stronger than the GTX 960, but there's no video card cheaper on the builder market (in new condition) that is closer. I just ran with the assumption the HDD is 1TB since that would be the lesser of the two most common sizes in 2015, and went as cheap as possible everywhere else:
Total: $393.76
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

So it would be ~$400 before tax and shipping to build a comp of roughly that strength new. Alternatively, some like to buy refurbished old office computers with cases large enough to house video cards like the RX 570 above such as the old Dell Optiplex units, which they buy separately to install, but the total price is about the same.

Not sure what % you expect off on a used unit that is four years old, but that should give you perspective.

Ask him if he'll sell it without the video card. Pay $150ish without the card and add an RX 570 like @Madmick mentioned above. The CPU is more than adequate, but the GPU is starting to fall behind.

Its used hardware thats two generations old now.

Reason i was able to sell my 5820K, motherboard and quad channel ram kit for $200 was because its mid-tier of last generation hardware. This system is a limbo tier between two generations ago and last generation hardware.

Show me the way.

Find me a comparable used build on eBay, Amazon's Marketplace, or Craiglists for this cheap. It can be a refurb with a 570 (or an older used GPU of similar strength) added. You can start with a great deal on used guts. The amount you reaped for your own kit is irrelevant. Maybe you just settled for a bad price as a seller.

Over 95% of Americans will pay 4% sales tax or more, so a $150 cash deal budget ceiling translates to a $144 tender online. Show me the way. He can then pursue that strategy. I don't spend a ton of time on flea market bargain hunting, so I'm happy to stand aside.

I'm still happy with my 1080 Ti
I think it will support games for a few years to come.
11gb RAM, oh yeah.

Value this has as a new unit fall in line with your price quote. As a four year old used unit going into 2020 this has little value. Nothing in this system can be upgraded or salvageable for a future build. This is close to buying a used car from the mid-2000's.

Just got around to this new LTT video. This prototype looks like it could be the future of CPU cooling:

I didn't suggest this used build had the same value as new hardware with similar gaming power. I provided that as a reference in order that he might consider what percentage off he deems reasonable. You seem to think ~64% or 2/3rd off the price of new hardware with identical power is reasonable. I think that's steep.

So I asked you to provide an example of a used build on the market in the budget range you offered, and I certainly don't care (nor do I suspect he minds) if the guts are 4+ years old. If that is your appraisal then certainly you can produce similar builds on the market going in that price range to substantiate the value as a used unit.

Stop dodging this. Just show me the way.

Anyone have good suggestions for a high quality PC gaming controller? I've wanted to pull the trigger on the elite or elite 2 xbox controller for a long time now, but they seem to have quality/longevity issues.
