Tech Gaming Hardware discussion (& Hardware Sales) thread

I posted the seller for the $100 price was Micro Center, you're quoting the price from Giz-Promo. Are you new to Amazon? Do you not know how to check other sellers?

and ya'll can dig at me for probably being the only sherdogger with a modern rig that runs on air cooling but at the end of the day yall can suck my 60 degree dick while its under load. for being the monstrocity that it is, the noctua nh-d15 is no slouch at all and it absolutely lives up to its reputation.

I guess video cards are just so big these days lol I lose site on the scale. The rig I'm waiting on I chose a corsair 5000T.

yeah they are getting pretty thick and heavy. some of the aftermarkets are rather long too. surprisingly my 4070ti isnt a whole lot bigger than my 2080 but they still take up 3 slots

they all even come with anti sag brackets or stands these days! mine doubles as a screwdriver lol.

i have the corsair 4000D airflow case in my main pc and it can accomodate pretty much anything but it could get pretty tight. i had to go with that just to fit my behemoth of a cpu cooler. the 5000T should be able to fit pretty much everything you'd ever want to throw in there and then some. you shouldn't ever have to worry about what you want to throw in there, that son of a bitch is gonna fit and it'll still have room to breathe!

It's showing $130 for me.
Best Buy has the 970 Evo Plus 2 TB refurbished for $130. I got the 1 TB version from them last year and haven't had any problems (only 17gb had ever been used).

ive been using the 2tb 970 evo plus as my boot drive. its been rock solid so far. the speeds come as advertised and i dont have to do anything fancy with it. it just sits inside of my motherboards heatsink and stays cool enough under all tasks.

these 2tb drives are rated for 1200 terabytes of writes (after 14 months i'm only at 8.7 TB), but these samsung evo models are so durable that you could probably write 5-10 times more than that without a failure. if you can get one of these for $130 i say go for it. sure you wont get the extra pcie 4.0 speeds out of them but you're never gonna notice the difference between the 970 and the 980 anyways (which pretty much costs twice as much for the same amount of storage) unless youre constantly moving massive files back and forth between the 970 and a pcie 4.0 drive or over a network that can actually handle that kind of bandwidth.

as far as booting to windows and opening files and loading into your games and doing all of your general computing is concerned, you will never really notice any real world difference between this and the 980. and as far as durability is concerned, you will be using a whole new rig and this drive will be on its way to a landfill or your grandchildrens house along with the rest of your antique hardware long before you ever wear out the endurance on these bad boys.

this is a very good drive.

Thanks, should arrive Monday. My current system lasted me almost 8 years (with no changes to any parts). Hoping to get at least 10 out of this new rig with one GPU change half way through. Got a 1200 watt PSU just in case GPUs are more ridiculous in 5 years.

Go out and buy about 18 RGB strips, replace those Noctua fans with RGB fans.

no thanks. my 3 ugly ass noctua fans are the shit for performance and i will never replace them with anything but their own. i dont care how godawful these things look aesthetically, its all about performance my dude. they get the job done very well and run silent, and i have my computers so far out of the way that i never see what's in my cases anyways.

but fuck you and your RGB fans too!
