Television Game of Thrones S08E06 Discussion Thread: Burn them all! (the writing staff) | Our Watch has ended

Should have just had Jon go north with Sansa jn that case

He did nothing worse than Grey Worm

They should have just lied to Grey Worm IMO. What's he going to do? Leave a guy in KL who constantly searches the kingdoms for Jon to make sure he's really gone? Then what? Try to come back with all your men and get slaughtered since you no longer have a dragon or the castle? I guess he could have posted someone at the watch but your basically fucking over one of your own men at that point.

Here's a scene I loved. Absolutely loved.

Loved it too, my only issue is, why the fuck is she writing while dressed in full armour?

I was on board with the episode's first 20 minutes, well as much as you can be on board with this rushed mess. They didn't set up Dany's character development properly in the previous seasons, they failed to strike the balance between luring us into rooting for her and building her up to become evil. But I appreciate the twist they were trying to pull off.

The rest of the ending isn't satisfying whatsoever. Bran, the most useless character ever, becoming king. The faux democracy by council. Jon being slowly set up for YEARS to be the Targeryan heir... only for him to be sent to the wall, a place where there's 0 reason for anyone to still be. Jaime's storyline went to shit. The subtext is that Sansa learned from Littlefinger, Cersei, etc, and managed to gain power for herself, but there was no time to elaborate on it. Arya did a Frodo, unnecessarily dramatic, why not "Yeah I'll go check out the uncharted shit and come back see you guys in a few years."

Its absolutely ridiculous to think of it when you put it this way.

And D&D knew that they had to fit all that in, and thought it would be fine

<{cruzshake}>

They have to go ruin Star Wars what else do you want from them?

GOT fans all season: Whatever, this show has just been bullshit fan service for the past few seasons

Also GOT fans: WTF! I wanted Jon Snow to be king, this is bullshit!
Jon Snow being king is a major plot point.

Its not an irrelevant event shown on screen only to please the fans.

Cant you see the difference?

Denaerys' death was so anticlimactic.

On a show where established characters were beheaded, had their heads crushed, poisoned in front of their mothers, burned alive screaming, where a pregnant woman was repeatedly stabbed in the womb...

If anyone earned a long, painful, drawn out death it was the mad queen.

What a ripoff.

Where were the Boltons when we needed them?

Star Wars is already ruined beyond all hope of redemption. At least they can do no harm to anything of any significance while they have their hands tied up with that for the foreseeable future.

I am trying to be less toxic but that was an awful ending. I did like the dragon stepping aside and letting Jon do his business. The dragon knew mommy went full psycho.

"Why do you think I came all this way?"

I feel like nobody listens to me! I said Bran is so Over Powered that the only logical way to explain him without massive plot hole device is he deliberately wants things to unfold the way they are.

I get no respect for picking him as on the Throne all the way back to 2014.

I don't her death needed to be drawn out. I think the shot that D&D settled for was very uncharismatic and music score used during the scene was bland which culminated to it being very anticlimactic.

How exactly is this fan service?

We've spent almost a decade waiting for Daenerys to get there, and that's what it looks like. The "jibber jabber" was eight seasons of her earning those scenes.

I enjoyed her last scene with Jon, thought it was well done, and thought Drogon's part was particularly moving. Melting the throne into slag wasn't hollow. It was created from dragonfire, and so was it destroyed.
the destination isnt the problem- the journey is. This video sums it up perfectly.

This is why pivotal moments like the Red Wedding, Ned's beheading, Oberyn's death, etc, were satisfying and fulfilling even when the viewer was initially upset by the result. Once you digest it, you realize the story naturally flowed to the proper conclusion within the narrative. Daenerys' heel turn is botched and messy. What should have been a powerful and bittersweet conclusion was ultimately just boring.

I do agree Drogon's part was the highlight of the episode. They gave him a great puppy dog reaction. Best actor of the finale.

This is true.
