Television Game of Thrones S08E06 Discussion Thread: Burn them all! (the writing staff) | Our Watch has ended

lol, the "It'll get better." "I'm sure it will." dialogue was so weird to me. Why does Bran care about any of this ceremony?
They de humanize him too much for anything in that last episode to seem normal. Like he should have turned into a force ghost by the end instead.

Drogon dont give a fuck about kings landing he aint coming back

There not worried Drogon is going to come back to take over the kingdoms. They are worried about a Dragon who needs to feed being anywhere near them.

the show sorta lost its way after the death of Jimmy IMO. It still had great moments thanks to the strong cast, but the storylines meandered aimlessly. Margaret dragged the show down hard.
Yeah, I think Jimmy was a character a lot of younger people related to, he was my brother's favorite. I like to think the end of Season 3, with Nucky tossing his carnation on the Boardwalk, rejecting his non-gangster half, and Margaret rejecting his money, was the end. Then you get a setup season in 4, and a multiple seasons crushed into 8 episodes in 5. Still amazing set design, costumes, most of the acting, etc.
Masseria was so good.

Good thing they banished the only living person who might be able to control him

Pretty funny that Drogon showed more emotion over Danys death than Dany showed over the deaths of both Viscerion and Rhaegal.

So they just let Grey Worm go because they were shook by the unsullied?

See, this is what I love about modern TV shows.
The writers can get away with leaving any plot question unanswered, or vague, or downright illogical.
They just let the hordes of rabid fans fill in the blanks.

Lol. I've done nothing but bash season 8... even in the post you quoted.

Here's a scene I loved. Absolutely loved.

Me too. Best scene of the episode.
Works on many levels. One of them being that all the events of Jaime's life throughout the show will, in posterity, be summed up on a few pages.

The intricacies of political maneuvering was never D&D's strong suit. They prioritize staging iconic YASSS QUEEN shots over the substantive storybuilding that should lead up to it.

Did you see how much fan service cinematography there was? Granted they were nicely shot, but they're hollow without meaning behind it.

It felt like they rushed through all the jibber jabber so they could finally make these shots and then pat themselves on the back for it.

Really makes me miss the days of the lower budget seasons when our chief complaint was the lack of battle scenes.

How exactly is this fan service?

We've spent almost a decade waiting for Daenerys to get there, and that's what it looks like. The "jibber jabber" was eight seasons of her earning those scenes.

I enjoyed her last scene with Jon, thought it was well done, and thought Drogon's part was particularly moving. Melting the throne into slag wasn't hollow. It was created from dragonfire, and so was it destroyed.

Hey, I wasn't criticizing you. Just stating a fact. You saw the exact same thing in True Detective 3. It's a whaddumacallit, sociological phenomenon that I felt interesting enough to point out.

Everyone made it clear they were done fighting. They just fought the NK, fought Cersei, and they were done. They didn't want to fight the unsullied as well but Sansa did have men from the North in case that's what needed to be done.

Should have just had Jon go north with Sansa jn that case

He did nothing worse than Grey Worm

Kind of funny that in the next scene they make a joke about how Tyrion isn't mentioned at all in the history of the War of the 5 Kings. Did I say funny? I meant awful.

GOT fans all season: Whatever, this show has just been bullshit fan service for the past few seasons

Also GOT fans: WTF! I wanted Jon Snow to be king, this is bullshit!
