Television Game of Thrones S08E06 Discussion Thread: Burn them all! (the writing staff) | Our Watch has ended

Only to get shut down by Lord Royce “Gracie” with a slippery slope argument “what, will my HORSE get a vote?!”
We def needed more seasons with that guy.

the plot points arent the problem, I predicted them like 6 years ago with the exception of Bran being king.

I thought Jon would vacate the throne or go into exile, that Arya would sail "west of westeros", that Dany would go mad and get put down by someone who loved her (picked Jorah).

However the dialogue, logic, pacing, ect was rushed and cringeworthy. I was more than fair these past few weeks. Just disappointing. Poor execution in the writing. Costumes, sound, cgi, acting, score were all at its peak. A lot of good work was put in so I dont want to completly trash it but damn. Need some time to let it breath.
Most of the character arcs, with some exceptions, seem to have reached their natural conclusions
They just all happened in the most unsatisfying poorly executed way possible

I have to say when Drogon melted the Iron Throne I expected them to go in the direction of dissolving the 7 kingdoms or abolishing the monarchy.

The fact that they’re just “naw, we’re going to just rebuild King’s Landing and keep on trucking with this dysfunctional monarchy” is kind of lame.
OR

now get this

Drogon just starts talking and has the same exact voice of the smart Gremlin in Gremlins 2.

"Jon Snow,or should I say Aegon Targaryen,oh dear, what have you done? Hold,i will clean this mess for you. Dont forget this, you owe me,I shall return, ciao"

Well, that was a great ending to an amazing show. Really reminiscent of LoTR with the heroes leaving the known world after their work is done, and that same bittersweet tone. And Jon petted Ghost, showing the writers were actually a step ahead of the whiny fans on that one.

Quite happy that we got an actual, well-crafted ending to this show, though it's tough that it's all gone now. It has been the goto topic of conversation at my workplace and has really brought a bunch of us together, a bit like when I was a kid and there was only a couple of channels on TV, so everyone watched the same shows.. It might be years before another show has this much cultural heft. RIP GOAT of Thrones!

Except it wasn't a slippery slope at all.

It was an act of comparing plebes with animals. Which actually holds water, both in intellectual and instinctual sense.

You should have known this season was garbage when they've left Starbucks on the table on purpose to have people posting memes about it on twitter cuz the actual show started to suck balls like bunch of people filming and editing didn't notice the cup on the table.

There's no conclusion, lol. Tbh it ended as it started. Only Jon escaped all this crap.

Ok lol tell how you would have ended it ts.

Almost anything would have been better. The most generic happy ending would have been better.

Honestly all they needed to do was have the characters react according to their established personality instead of screwing them up.

hard to like the jorah arc now. He died thinking he saved the messiah and just facilitated mass murder.

Anyone else find it odd that Jon seemed really upset about being sent back to the Night’s Watch and the Wall? Mother fucker VOLUNTEERED for that shit before. Now he’s all against going back when he has no reason whatsoever to not go back? Dany’s dead. His father, Robb and Rickon are dead. Arya’s fucking off to America. Bran’s gone weird and Sansa’s as bitchy as ever. He might as well go back to the Wall.

Am I the only one who wanted to see the butcher's boy end up on the Iron Throne?

We hereby sentence you to that which you have always coveted!

There's a plastic water bottle in this ep too

Last time he was part of the Night's Watch they killed him. That sort of thing might make you queasy.

I'm shocked at what I just saw...

The first 15 minutes with Hitler Khaleesi was done very well. I'm not to sure why the Tyrion and Jon prisoner scene had to last so long. But then it was the Dany and Jon throne room scene that changed everything. The way it was shot looked awful, like it was obviously fake and they were in front of a screen. The worst shot scene in the entire series. So Jon kills Dany in such an underwhelming fashion that the music didn't even make it seem like this was really happening..

Drogon is cool with Jon, hates the throne and fucks off? That's it? We were told Bran is not Bran anymore or human basically but he's now the King and he's been playing us all? What the fuck was the point of all this Three Eye Raven bullshit?? And Jon goes back to the "Night's Watch?!" LOL WTF...

What about the Dothraki? We see them hanging out in King's Landing but what are they going go to do? And that scene with Tyrion and the new special counsel was fucking awful... This felt like a parody of G.O.T, like some YouTube made bullshit.

How could they fucking do this? Seriously, I moved on from shitty season 7 but this one has completely ruined the show. Only a spectacle loving dolt could enjoy what they've done here.

I mean forgive the guy for not doing pirouettes of happiness for not being given a THANK YOU for saving humanity for the 8700th time, and just having them say,hey could you just go away?
