FX's FARGO Discussion Thread

I actually hung out with Allison Tolman (Molly) tonight for a brief time. We have a mutual friend that wrote a play that debuted this weekend. I have not watched this show, but I may start. My friend keeps telling me to give it a try because Allison is in it. Frankly, I was waiting for a more compelling reason, like someone saying it's good. Based on some input I've gotten here, I'll watch an episode I think.

Cool. If you like the movie Fargo or the Twin Peaks series, you might like this one also.

Good show. Really gets annoying telling people its not about the movie over and over and they walk away still believing it is based on the movie.

Why is it so difficult to get people to start a new series?

I had the same problems trying to get people to check out The Wire, Breaking Bad, or even Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia. I know these people would enjoy these shows as much as I do, but it's hard to convince them to see for themselves.

And they watch shows like Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother, and Two and a Half Men..So irritating lol

Maybe its because these shows are constantly on TV, I dont know.

Breaking Bad..There's one.

Only got halfway through S1. Seems awesome, need to go back and finish it.

Last episode was really great. I was laughing and admiring how resourceful that weasel Lester was. At this rate, I think he might get away with everything at the end of the season.

So pissed off at Grimly accidentally shooting Molly. If Molly's still alive, then it could mean that the investigation would also slow down since she's on the sidelines.

I kinda feel bad for Chumph. Sure he was naive and slow but I didn't want that grizzly death to be his fate.

That's what he gets for using so much bronzer, and I doubt they would kill off Molly this soon if at all.

Molly will be alive from the hospital and she'll probably instruct Grimly on what to do or sway him in the right direction. I predict Malvo will get out of this season alive.

I haven't read up yet but does anyone know if they're planning the same characters next season, or doing it True Detective style?

There's only going to be one season.

It looks like it is still up in the air. I would hope so. :icon_cry2 This show is a masterpiece. But they might pull a Firefly on us.

Just watched the latest. Seemed liked kind of a cool-off episode from the in-your-face brutality of the previous one. Still good, though. Curious to see where Malvo goes from here, though. I suspect Grimly will have to be the one that ultimately puts a bullet in him, in turn redeeming himself restoring his sense of self-worth. Or they could go the predictable route and find a way for Molly, fresh off her injury, to save Grimly in the final duel with Malvo. In any case, great series.

I'm not quite sure how I feel about seeing the guy from The Office's sex face.

Key and Peele had a fantastic cameo. I don't really like this show though tbh, the female cop is so doe eyed and annoying, I want to punch her in the face. I usually have to watch it in 3 parts.

My reaction when Key and Peele showed up:

Malvo's assault on the mob's headquarters seemed too cartoonish. But love the unexpected Key & Peele cameo. Hope to see them in the next ep.

Last week I criticized Gus for shooting blindly in the whiteout. But Molly was equally reckless shooting Wrench, who could have been an innocent bystander.

Lester continues to entertain me every week. I like his new swagger. Got away with murder, brilliantly orchestrated framing his brother and gets to nail Mrs. Hess (a still hot Kate Walsh).

Good show. Really gets annoying telling people its not about the movie over and over and they walk away still believing it is based on the movie.

It is lifting from the movie though. It is hitting most of the key points that made the movie famous. The weirdness of that part of the country, that most people never see. The pussy husband, who gets himself in totally over his head. I mean, that character is William T Macy, from the movie. The woman cop as lead. The psychos. It hits all those quirks that made the movie so fresh. Same atmosphere, slight variations.

Even the little things, like the female cop talking to the deaf guy. How she can't understand why people do this stuff, over money. It is almost the exact point the woman cop made at the end of the movie.
