General crabs in a bucket mentality mixed with our pleasure at a public figure's downfall, especially as a result of their own choices.
We all suffer from it but few of us take a moment to analyze what's non-profit to us about it. Being human is to standards as being a teenager is to sanity. Good luck.
That said, I'm on Francis' side easily. I am not the kind to plant a seed and dig it up each day to see if it's growing. The man is brand new and green at this and is willing to learn his lessons and take his bumps, to get where he's going.
What he's asking for is indeed unrealistic. But if he gets anything more than has been done before then it will be called "unprecedented". The cost of being right is often enduring the world saying you're wrong UNTIL..... until they rewrite history to say they always knew you would be right eventually, lol. Human fucking beings - we're really something.
What I find remarkable is Francis' take on everything that has transpired. He smiles and laughs while promoters burn his name and he says very little back about them beyond pointing out their hypocrisy or fixation with him. He seems to have no bitterness towards them when they clearly harbour feelings towards him. Either he's actually a rude asshole or else he offends these guys for a totally different reason. Something based on HIS PARTICULAR view of himself.
I think the guy is just different from how we are and he's simply going to do things his way. We might call it "stupid", "crazy", etc., but I'm sure there were times in the desert where HE had to question if he was crazy to keep following his dream of being the HW champ of the world with zero fight training, and zero access to training, and unclear chances of physical survival in deserts and seas. THAT was crazy and stupid and ill-advised. And it got him his HW championship of the world, lol.
If I were Francis, I'd keep laughing at us limited thinkers and keep smiling at my unwavering intention to build impossible success out of my life chances. That's ALL that got him where he is. If he listened to us, he'd be at a big city in Cameroon, with little education, eking out an existence. We are NOT the ppl to listen to for a guy like Francis!
War THAT mutherfucker. War Francis!
But when someone makes a joke about him, I'll laugh if it's funny. That's the cost of greatness. If he actually succeeds at something, all these laughs will have been fuel to his fire. Burn, baby, burn, and go get your turn!
the fact that the UFC let their heavyweight champion leave, when he is a vicious knockout artist, is fucking embarrassing.
ngannou has a career finishing rate of 94%. he's won one fight by decision, everything else was either a KO or a submission. he was only ever beaten by decision.
the dude is likable as hell outside the ring, and an absolute monster inside it. they should've paid him so much money he wouldn't even know what to do with it. he's the promotion's dream fighter, and they fucked it up.
Jones waited 3 years for Ngannou to leave and pounced on the opportunity to beat an inexperienced fighter with no wrestling defense.
....and should've after overshooting on demands he could of easily repudiated a few demands , sign a 2 fight deal with the 1st being the Jones fight and making his bag on that fight alone.
I am not sure why so many people like to crow over ngannoi seemingly failing.
If he valued himself at more and was willing to be stuck at a lower level of pay because he refused to sign a contract that undervalued what he thought he was worth, then it's his right to take a stand on that principle. If he turns out to have overvalued himself, that's what sometimes happens in life. Do u think everybody who is now at the top correctly valued his own worth? Therr must be many who overvalued themselves but their chutzpah got them.over the line. There are many who didn't get over the line but not because they lacked the nerve - the chips just didn't fall out for them. Ngannou played the hand he had the best he could and went for the prize instead of settling for the safe option.
why do so many people care about this shit? Francis is a full grown man, and he did what he thought was best for him and his interest and EVERYONE should STFU about it.

It's not about the money which is of course why he asked for even more money from ONE.
...
It's been widely discussed that Francis has been asking for a lot more than just money in his negotiations.
Turned down 20 mil man Francis is one dumb motherfucker this dude needs a manger asap.
I appreciate the appreciation, brother. And I appreciate your respect for Francis' right to take his time to put his own life together. Sherbros are acting like he agreed to work on their schedule or something, lol.Great fucking post. Best I seen on Sherdog.
I can't root against Francis knowing the start that was given him in life. Easy to fall into the trap of taking pleasure in his perceived misfortune because of human dirt-bag tendencies, but his story is an incredible, one for the ages.
A.K.A. the cheapest way to look rich when you're a broke MMA league:It is possible. Still, why would ONE offer Francis $20 million? They've got a cheap streaming deal with Amazon. They've lost almost $400 million in their lifetime, never turning a profit in any year they've been operating. It not only makes zero sense, Chatri dropping this information out of nowhere creates headlines and attention before their first US card this weekend and makes them seem like a big player. It's too convenient.
Fuck, coming from the likes of you, this is a soul-crushing comment. You're a weirdo
Francis was offered at least $8 million to fight Jones and instead he dropped the belt and walked away from the UFC.Jones waited 3 years for Ngannou to leave and pounced on the opportunity to beat an inexperienced fighter with no wrestling defense.
Even Chatri, or whatever the ONE owner's name is, said everything was cool and that Francis was respectful and they got along fine and like each other BUT......This is definitely true. From the sounds of it he has pissed a few people off in the first round of negotiations, hopefully that doesn't hurt him too much. I think he has enough value that it shouldn't.
Somehow, in the minds of some Francis gets to turn down $8 million and drop the belt, yet he didn’t duck the fight. That’s some serious logic right there. There's a lot of people who think Jones ducked
When he's the only one who signed the contract
You smooth brained motherfuckers lmao
MEGA THREAD!!!
