I agree. I respect Francis for sticking to his guns when UFC was waving so much money in front of him. But I have trouble seeing how this pays off for him.If it's against a nobody in PFL he's gonna max out at 100k buys, who's gonna care about that?
Would be bonkers but literally impossible.could you imagine he is back in the UFC.... fighting jones in july!
Every single sentence of this couldn't be more wrong. Pretty impressive. He said himself that it isn't all about money. It's freedom and health insurance. He wants to able to box and do other things behinds MMA + have health insurance. Outside of health insurance, it's the same thing Fedor was doing. Short contracts and the freedom to do other things.
You gotta take ufc offers with a grain of salt because if you lose, they can cut you or i think even lower your pay and thereby not have to pay you what you signed for.
That's what the situation was with his UFC contract. The offer was 8 mill to fight Jones, but if he lost his pay would go down. Which makes sense, the UFC ins't gonna pay Francis 8 mill to be in a contender fight where he's not even a champ.
i think he can do a couple of 100K buys v a bum in PFL. There is certainly some interest, but like 500K buys or anything.
Ya, seems PFL is the front runner. My question is, if nobody else can afford him (including UFC) how is PFL able to fork over enough to get him to sign?

They were paying pettis 750 thousand per fight. Francis will probably make more than that. Plus the chance to make an extra million by winning the tournament. He could also crossover into boxing to make extra side money

If he lost and was no longer the champion, with no other super fights like vs Jones, why would they still be paying him the same amount? It’s perfectly logical the offer would be reduced
