The election is 2 weeks away, and we still don't have all the parties' full platforms. Now, I get the Liberals might be scrambling hard to put theirs together, but why isn't the Conservatives or NDP's ready? Those two parties have had years to get ready for this, this is shit they should have been shouting for weeks. To me, that's a big red flag.
Starting to feel like the Conservatives were so confident the Liberals were so done, they came in on autopilot mode thinking they could coast. Or is this some kind of new strategy?
"We're gonna do these good things, huge things, things that's you've never seen before...after we get elected, but we can't tell you what it is first. We're going to make Canada great again! Because it's ONLY great when we're in charge. The Government of Harper told me so."
Both the USA and Canada are experiencing major identity crises, and it's bringing out the fucking worst in all of us. And sitting here pretending it isn't happening is a recipe for disaster. But I also think the US having their election first did help put things into perspective for a lot of people here in Canada.
If I vote Liberal, it is because that party is putting a candidate forward that I think is better qualified to sit down at the table with other world leaders. It's not my fault the Conservative party made a poor choice as party leader.
Why am I voting for a guy who really understands money and has to entertain the guy down south who thinks the world can be bought or sold?
Fuck knows, I must be crazy I guess.
Our political system is broken, and partisan politics will never fix it. I think the last PM who really actually gave a shit about this country was Jean Chretien. And just to appease all the Conservative posters... there's a fella over there in Newfoundland... Danny Williams. He would have made a damn fine PM. I would have voted for that guy. But not PP.
That Jeff Daniel's Newsroom speech? Sadly, a lot of days it feels like that applies to this side of the border too now.
