Yep, and he had over 1k yards his rookie season at 4.8ypc too. Unfortunately his career floundered after that. Just read that he works for ND now. Good for him.

Injuries did him in, what a bummer like you mentioned he had a great rookie season.

For a big guy Bettis had some good speed coming out of ND. But all 250 pound backs are Thunder.

My darkhorse is Denver. I have a feeling they are going to give Buffalo serious headaches. I won't take them outright, Buffalo is a sick place to visit in January, but Sean Payton has a QB who has all the skills and is playing like a seasoned vet, particularly down the stretch. Plus they have a strong defense that looks capable of going on the road and forcing the home punter into action.

A poster on another forum once ran this by me. Pro rasslin' isn't fake . that illusion of violence and predetermined outcomes that is pro rasslin'. Similiar to a movie a play, of course nothing is real but it simply doesn't matter it's a movie a play that is what they are,

Anyway....

No not Miami, funny thing about Miami is their foootball teams always have a lot of speed, but we don't see that on the track, the school has never had a stud sprinter. They did have a good 400m cat back in the day but nothing at 100/200.

Will gve the rasslin' school out later today, I have no idea why all these footballers got into the rasslin'.

No boubt those 61 NCAA starts for Nix put him in a different place than a rookie QB is usually in. Denver is set for the next decade plus.
I do agree with you and you actually read my mind. I also see a close game but can't see Buff losing at home. As you are well aware of home./road is huge in the NFL. Buff is undefeated in 2024 at home.

Wilson did put up similar numbers to Nix last season, was surprised Denver wanted him gone. Other than wanting someone younger.
 
Will be taking Penn State to beat ND tomorrow night, like their RB duo and that stud TE.

The media adores ND, they gobble up ....win one for the Gipper, The Four Horsemen (little guys) Touchdown Jesus, those Golden Domes. How did Paul Hornung win a Heisman on a losing team with the numbers he didn't have, weird!

Will be on Ohio State Friday, do think this is a Buckeye year.

Don't like this 12 team system, seriously doubt we ever see a 9-12 seeded team ever play for the title so why waste the time? 8 teams will work, those top 8 ranked teams forget the conferences. Three SEC/Big1O teams over an SMU, Boise State if ranked higher.

What I like about the college game is how important wins and losses are, you lose three games in college you are done, not so in the NFL just win that division and you're in. That can be 9-8.

I have mixed feelings on the 12 team. A playoff, in and of itself is a long time coming. 30-40 years of dreams for myself. I loathed having the NCAA title decided by ap and coaches votes all this time.

I love the games being played on a neutral site/bowl game, however, I don't agree whatsoever with the first 4 games NOT being played at a neutral site.

Imho Indiana probably had no business in the playoff BUT I would think they would have been much more competitive had they not had to play in Notre Dames house. All four of the opening games were obviously going to the home teams, not to mention they were generally unwatchable contests if you arent a fan of either school.

Same with Clemson (who was a conference winner?!) That to me is ridiculous, I get the ACC is a trash conference but what incentive is there to be the 5th conference winner but you have to travel and play in a non - conference winners house? Basically the voters get to award their biased favs an extra home game in the playoffs. Ridiculous stuff, if you are leaving the 5th conference winner to chance in the opening round of the playoff, just skip the conference title games or scrap them altogether.

The 12 team has some issues and perhaps the 8 team is a better setup for the true champion. I personally would love to see a little parody and get a legit chance at pulling for the underdogs. It was obvious that the voters/polls don't know jackshii as rank 1-4 is out and 5-8 (who wouldn't even be playing in January without an extended playoff) are in

These playoff games must be played at neutral sites, so use the bowls more than they did. But....do need to make it an 8 team playoffs, we can't have another Indiana/SMU/Boise State at the party, they simply don't belong.

I'm with you about being glad we have these playoffs, hell the other divisions have been doing this for awhile, really made no sense not to add D1.

Rank the top 10 teams right after the reg season, 1 to 8 are our playoff teams regardless of conference if 4 Big10 teams are ranked, oh well.

Think we are on the same page wit this..

On another site I took all the home teams in round one, and if they do it same way next season I'll once again simply go with the home teams. This has to stop.

Yeah I've always maintained the NCAA has been sitting on a gold mine with a potential playoff, even capable of reaching the heights of the NFL playoffs

I think with the classic format of Division 1, an 8 team is the perfect number, However, with the current NIL/portal landscape, this does open the door for some of the smaller schools to pull off some unreal, unexpected, underdog performances and I would have no problem extending it beyond 12 teams into a mega tournament format similar to the March Madness.

Finally going to have to disagree with you my friend, I love football and have as far back as I can remember. But, it's fine for San Jose State to play Boise State, SMU vs Houston, what won't work is Penn State vs SMU, Texas vs Boise State.

There are without question diffeent levels of NCAA football, that's why we see those huge 40 point favorites, hell we have had games that are so unfair we don't get a line. Savannah State has no business playing LSU, Michigan, USC, I know big payday for Savannah State, so what the hell.

I want to see teams with a realistic shot at winning it all, we won't get that with 12 or more teams involved.

Obviously, I can't argue this year but the fact that 5-8 made it ahead of 1-4 tells me the coaches and press can very easily make a mistake and leave out a number 9 or lower who could fare well in a neutral site.

I respect the purists argument for 8 teams but I think there's more to learn about an extended playoff that can't be left to chance at this point.

There's a fine line going forward for a team to pad their non conference part of the schedule with cupcakes vs adding only non conference power schools to boost strength of schedule.

I wont be surprised if at some point an undefeated smaller conference school will be able to hang with the big boys on a neutral field

As you know the college game is all about recruiting, what kid is going to UTEP, Fresno Stats, UNLV when they have offers from Texas, USC and Alabama? Sure we see a case like that Jeanty kid at Boise State, so its the lack of depth that seperates a Boise from an Oregon. The great teams the legendary programs can go three/four deep with quality athletes in waiting for their shot, that can't be said about the lesser lights.

Sure during a season we'll get that App State beating a Michigan, (which was Michigan looking past them, no intensity) but in a playoff scenario we aren't going to be seeing 14 point dogs pulling upsets. I don't expect to ever see a big underdog ever upsetting a big fav in a playoff situation.

Would you beleive college all star teams have beat the NFL Champs back in the day? That was obviously a lack of intensity from the pros while a need to win grrrrrrrrrrrrr out of the college kids.

Big Niner fan here, totally bummed about how this season went, will blame it on injuries. I know.....wimpy!

What to do with Brock Purdy, hmmmm? 2023 the guy was amazing his numbers as good as any first year starter as we had ever seen. Then here came 2024 and commercials and injuries and INT;s and some bad decisions.

Now there's talk about his next contract. No way he can become our Dak Prescott (I'd be ashame of myself ) I can see 40mill for three seasons forget that 60mill stuff that is ridiculous unless you are among the top the ultimate elite, Purdy isn't.. So I talk to him about finishing off his rookie contract and if his 2025 performance warrants that big $$$$$$ ok cool. If not.....see ya!

My Niners the only team to have five Superbowl QB's, Montana, Young, Kaepernick, Jimmy G, Purdy.

Other than my Jimmy Brown rookie card my Montana and Rice RC's on my prized possesions list, add....a first edition H.P.Lovecraft, and a Cookie Gilchrist RC.....went straight from HS to the CFL then the Buffalo Bills, first AFL 1000 yard rusher,

The great Gale "Kansas Comet" Sayers, he was amazing.

While in HS he led the nation (HSers)in the long jump with a 24-11 leap. His older bro Roger a world class sprinter who once beat Bob Hayes.

Brian Piccolo was the nations top running back that season he was out of Wake Forest. Talking Brians Song, how the Bears got Piccolo and Sayers, ???

Here was the greatest WOW! running back we had seen up to his day, and actually only Sanders would be his superior with that WOW! Jim Brown more an OUCH! runner.
