Will be using their track exploits not 40 times.

A 100 meters takes something we don't see in a 40, that being "Speed Endurance". That is that ability to sustain/maintain that top end/max velocity a sprinter has reached.
Sprinters don't hit their top end until around 60ish meters, this is where that Speed Endurance kicks in, how long can the cat hold his speed before that decelleration phase sets in. A sprinter like Usain Bolt spends little time decellerating that is why he holds the world record, his Speed Endurance on a whole other level.***** No human can run a 100m and not decellerate.

***** Bolt spents years as a 200m guy, so his training was for that distance, when he finally did start running the 100m he had 200m endurance.

Ok, this is that All Time 100m for NFL running backs, all ran the event in college.

1.Herschel Walker 10.23 Cowboys/Georgia.....best example of size/speed we have seen
2.Travis Williams 9.3yards Packers/ASU.....great kickoff returner
3.Jamaal Charles 10.18 Chiefs/Texas, also a hurdler
4.O.J.Simpson 9.4yards Bills/USC World Record 4x1 relay
5.Curtis Dickey 9.2 Colts/ Tex A&M
6.Raheem Mostert 10.2ish Niners/Purdue...Big 10 100 champ
7.De'Von Achane 10.1ish Dolphins/Tex A&M.....him and Mostert the fastest NFL duo ever
8.Trindon Holliday 10.00 Bronco/LSU

While at Florida A&M Bob Hayes and fellow speedster Bob Paremore 9.4 were the running backs, that is the fastest duo ever.

Did this really happen or BS?

Georgia Tech 222 Cumberland 0

Back in the 40's an all black HS in Tennessee was undefeated for three seasons, they also were unscored on and..................nobody ever crossed the 50 yard line on them.

Darrell Green who won numerous NFL Fastest Man titles, wasn't as dominate one season in an NCAA 100m coming in 6th and losing to two future NFLers Willie Gault and his Tenn teammate Mike Miller.

Green did run a world class 10.08 but was more of a 10.2ish cat.

When the AFL merged with the NFL, the Colts, Steelers and Browns became AFC teams.

A couple way back when NFL teams were.....Kansas City Cowboys and the Tonawanda Kardex.

Hall of Fame fullback Bronko Nagurski was also an NWA pro rasslin' World Champion.

The New York Giants drafted the 1964 Olympic 200m gold medalist Henry Carr, why.......to run with the Cowboys 1964 Olympic 100m champ Bullet Bob Hayes a wide receiver (converted running back)

Speaking of the New York Giants they had a wide receiver named Homer Jones (beat Hayes in an NAIA 200m) who was the daddy of....The Spike, yep, first player to spike a football after a score. He was also the first player to run a kickoff back to score on MNF. He was now a Brown.

It was the Cali State Track&Field Championships and the Boys 100 Yard Dash, talking 20's. Frank Lombardi jumped the gun, back then you were moved back a yard (dead serious) that must have pissed him off because at the gun he exploded out of the blocks blowing by everyone (future Olympian and WR holder Frank Wykoff one of them) he stopped the watchs at 9.6 tying the then world record. A HS kid running a WR was simply unheard of. After that meet Frank Lombardi.....poof~~~~~

You are talking about a LOT of different things in that post btw

Yep, Football & .....STUFF.

I'm a bit of a football, track, rasslin' history buff, am talking the books, magazines, and have seen a lot, been to track meets from Oregon to Mexico. I guess.......hobby....would work.

Non sports interests, music, literature, silent movies, yep, into the history of it all. Have this thing about......origins.

You should check out my piano thread at teh jukebox

Why take the Chiefs over Texans? Andy Reid has a great record coming off a bye week, and Mahomes on a whole higher level than Stroud..
Why take the Bills, start with better QB at home. Really don't need anything more.
Why take Lions over Commanders , a rookie QB isn't winning back to back playoff games on the road.
Why take the Eagles, going to be cold in Philly and that fire situation for LA has gotta have some effect on an LA team.

I do see a sweep for the home teams this round.

Went 4-2 last week, lost with Buc's and Chargers.

Looks like not having their stud edge rusher and a non mobile QB finally caught up with the Lions. Too many injuries and too many turnovers.

Oh well.

Ok I'm convinced.

Top 5 Eagle runing backs All Time

1.Saquon Barkley
2.LeSeun McCoy
3.Wilbert Montgomery
4.Steve Van Buren
5.Timmy Brown

Ten greatest QB (in that era) who never won a Superbowl

No particular order

Dan Marino
John Unitas
Fran Tarkenton
Lamar Jackson
Warren Moon
Joe Burrow
Jim Kelly
Philip Rivers
Dan Fouts
Josh Allen******

While here ....

When it comes to picking football games straight up there are a few fundametals you need to be aware of and use. The most important is this one.....Better QB at home. I have lost three in these NFL playoffs.

Lost with the Chargers on the road, did think Herbert was by far the better QB............wrong!

Did think Baker and Goff were superior to a rookie especially at home.....wrong! So my .....better QB at home....sucked!

Not sure Hurts is the better QB but just how many road games can a ROOKIE QB win in a row? I do see it ending vs the Eagles. Will be taking the Eagles to move on.

Speaking of fundamentals, you do not go against Reid/Mahomes at their place in a big game. So I won't. What I will do is root for the Bills and pass this game as a pick. I am sick of the Chiefs and sick of Taylor Swift and too be honest sick of Mahomes, the guys makes how much and he;s doing commercials, talk about greedy, sheesh~~~~

I want to root for the Bills, hard to do that picking the Chiefs, so no play for me.

Noticing all those QB's left can run, do see the days of stand tall in the pocket as being over. Hell look at that NCAAchamps game last night, both those cats could motor.

****** Allen is from Firebaugh , that is a little faming community out west of Fresno, I used to work there a couple weeks a year (insurance sales) calling on subscribers to a magazine I worked for. Gotta tell ya the coyotes run in packs and tumbleweeds all over the places, biggest hawks I have ever seen.

After HS Allen attended Reedly JC which is south of Fresno. Both places he played vs a low caliber of players, as he would at Wyoming. A bit surprised he has had the success he's having.

Hard to believe that Ohio State has never had a great/elite NFL QB. Hell Alabama. had....Bart Starr, Joe Namath, Ken Stabler.

Hmmmm?

Purdue...Drew Brees, Bob Griese, Len Dawson

All those mentioned above in the Hall of Fame.

You'd think USC would have more quality QB's, nope! Carson Palmer the best.....?

Who did Michigan have other than Tom Brady? Wisconsin Russell Wilson, Cal Aaron Rodgers, Southern Miss Brett Favre, Miami of Ohio Big Ben, Morehead Phil Simms, Navy Roger Staubach, Iowa State Brock Purdy, Texas Tech Patrick Mahomes.

The first ....WOW!......of the 2025 season.

An outdoor 60 is rare, but there are no indoor tracks in Jamaica.

His 6.48 into a 2mph headwind is a great early season time. Obviously no headwinds in indoor track.

Thompson an Olympic 100m silver medalist already and he's new to the sport. Key word......potential.

Just think everyone living in Jamaica is related to a sprinter at some level.

All Time Born in Jamaica 100m

Lane

1.Ben Johnson Canada 1988 Olympic 100m gold
2.Linford Christie GB 1992 Olympic 100m gold
3.Yohan Blake World Champion, second fastest 100m cat
4.Usain Bolt The GOAT....won it all numerous times.
5.Asafa Powell former world record holder
6.Donovan Bailey Canada 1996 Olympic gold
7.Kristan Thompson 2024 Olympic silver
8.Herb McKenley 1952 Olympic silver, some think he won.......first great Jamaican sprinter.

I could list another 50 who made an impact on the sprint world, what that island has produced is amazing. More quality sprinters there than all of Europe, Asia, Middle East.....combined~~~~ It's crazy.

When O.J.Simpson ran a leg on that USC World Record 4x1 team, it was....

Hurdler.soon to be Detroit Lion Earl McCulloch
Fred Kuller who had tied the JC record at 9.3
Simpson handing off to....
Lennox Miller who at that time was the fastest Jamaican, a 9.2/10.04 cat who had won silver in 68 and bronze in 72 Olympics. And he can't make that race above. That is some serious depth.

Hell the Cali JC 100m record is held by Merritt's Kemarly Brown, yep, another Jamaican.

You'd think by now some Jamacian speedster would have played some football since a lot of them ran at US schools,.....nope!

When world started taking notice of Jamaican speed was in the late 40's, but it was in the 400, in 1951...

1951 World Rankings

1.George Rhoden (Jamaica)
2.Herb McKenley (Jamaica)
3.Arthur Wint (Jamaica)
4.
Mal Whitfield (US)
5.
Charlie Moore (US)
6.
Dick Maiocco (US)
7.
Hans Geister (West Germany)
8.
Schalk Booysen (South Africa
)9...
Karl-Friedrich Haas (West Germany)
10
John Bradley USA

In 1952 those three and 200m man Les Laing teamed up in that 4x4 relay, yep easily won the gold in World Record time.
McKenley is still the only sprinter to make the Olympic final; in the 100, 200 and 400.

In 1989

1989 world ranking 100m

1................ Raymond Stewart (Jamaica)
2..................................... Carl Lewis (US)
3............................ Dennis Mitchell (US)
4........... Linford Christie (Great Britain)
5................................ Leroy Burrell (US)
6................................ Andre Cason (US)
7................................. Calvin Smith (US)
8................................... Mike Marsh (US)
9.................. Daniel Sangouma (France)
10..................... Mark Witherspoon (US)

Stewart ran for TCU, and he can't make that All Time race, yep....crazy

Top sprinter in the world in 1976 Don Quarrie he was a USC Trojan, yep another Jamaican, an Olympic 100m silver.

China has how many people, yet can't come close to matching what that little island has produced as far as sprinters goes.
