Why do you think as such?

-The man is willing to test himself in a new sport whereas no MMA fighter has enough balls to go into boxing.
-He's been a fan of MMA and routinely thanks them for their support.
-He's willingly trained with King Mo and is actually taking his foray into MMA very seriously.

IMO, the anti-Toney sentiment on here sprouts from the hope that MMA can redeem itself after the Sylvia/Mercer debacle.

James Toney is very similar to Roger Gracie in that he's a specialist in aspect of MMA who is willing to cross-train and try his hand in a legit organization.
Taking that into consideration, I believe Toney is worthy of the same respect given to other fighters brave enough to step into the Octagon.

You do realize that the ESPY Award is given based on the nominee's activities over the past year, correct?

Since the ESPY 2009 Awards, GSP has fought a unanimous decision victory against Dan Hardy whereas Floyd fought a Unanimous Decision victory against Shane Mosely.

They both fought once each during that time span and voters felt as Floyd deserved the award more than GSP.

Floyd debuted in 1996 as a pro and has had 41 fights so far and will probably fight once more this year, that's just about 3 fights a year career wise. He also "retired" or took a break from Boxing for about 2 years.

GSP debuted in 2002 and has had 22 fights so far, slightly less than 3 fights each year. He only fought twice in 2008 and twice in 2009 and once so far this year yet you act like he is fighting 5 or 6 times a year.
