Media Firas Zahabi says Fedor would KO Prime Cain Velasquez

I favor Fedor over Cain. Fedor lights him up on the feet IMO. Cain rushed in like a complete moron and Fedor's accuracy and timing were second to none. Honestly, pretty easy fight. Could Cain win, for sure, but chin sure was out there for the taking.

I really like the analysis of Firas Zahabi. He is the GOAT’scoach. But I think he is really off here.

Unless it's HW where we are at an all time low... prime Fedor, Big Nog, Cain or JDS would arguably beat everyone bar Aspinall easily... and beat Tom as well, just not as easily.
Funny you leave out the one gut who has submitted 3 out of the 4 guys you mentioned. He is the True HW GOAT.

Prime Fedor had unmatched striking accuracy and endurance not to mention power. I think the fact that he was actually competing in combat sambo during his fighting career during those years was what gave him an edge. That's something Dana White wouldn't agree to during the negotiations to bring Fedor to the UFC. The Pride FC organization allowed Fedor to do both. I would favor Prime Fedor over any HW in any era.

Prime Cain and DC seem like nightmare matchups for prime Fedor. Elite wrestling with BJJ and striking lightyears ahead of Coleman and Randleman. Cain was a black belt under Leandro Vieira, DC a brown belt under Leandro Vieira.

Prime Fedor can finish anybody, but I'm having a hard time not imagining Fedor on the bottom looking like he did against Bigfoot Silva.

maybe in relative terms but in 2010 you didn't have guys like Tom Aspinall.

science builds on knowledge of yesterday.

A regular scientist at MIT knows way more than Isaac Newton did though in contextual frame Isaac Newton is way more brilliant than anyone in MIT today.

The HW division of 2010 was much better than it is today. And you certainly did have guys like Aspinal......Cain, Barnett, Overeem, Noguiera

I dunno. Aside from the fact that the Bigfoot fight happened when Fedor was already declining, Bigfoot is like 280 lbs in the cage. Cain is roughly the same height and weight as Fedor, I think Fedor would do ok defending the TD from Cain. Not to say that Cain wouldn’t ever get Fedor down, I’m sure it’d happen at some point. But Fedor has very dynamic submissions, and top notch sweeps and scrambles.

Fedor is my absolute favorite fighter of all time but I think Firas might not be considering how Cain's from a newer more improved generation.

Every 5 years the crop is just better.
The best fighters don't fizzle out by 5 years that the new guys that come along are better than they ever were. That's literally not and never has been a real thing.

People actually believing prime GSP couldn't beat JDM are smoking meth

I dunno. I think Fedor's style aged out. Many later HWs with training would likely take him down and keep him there without the sub. Of course Fedor would've had different training as well if he's fighting them. So I think it's hard to compare eras. But Bigfoot fight really showed what happens when the armbar doesn't come. I actually think Randy vs Fedor would be pretty competitive if Randy's chin held up or he got the takedown before the punch.

Fedor was my favorite fighter and first fight I got to watch in person. I just think it's hard for many fans to acknowledge his glaring weakness. Most the wrestlers he beat he really either won by cardio or sub. Coleman, Randleman, Lindland are usually the examples of wrestlers he beat in his prime. Rings had different rules, but I just imagine if Arona wasn't swept (which by the way almost never happens anymore with current training), he would've won this fight in the UFC.

Fedor vs Arona.

If I had to imagine USADA testing PRIDE fighters in Japan, I assume it would look like this

Pathetic.

Did you guys ever watch the last round of CC vs Fedor?

It's incredible they worked so much harder than every other heavyweight in MMA history, to maintain that much cardio. It's truly incredible and speaks volumes of their high character and morals.

I wish the fighters of today had a a ounce of their dedication. UFC fighters are sad in comparison, and we will never get that golden age again, for some mysterious reason- that drug testing had nothing to do with.

Fedor might be the greatest person to ever live.

It would be incredible if Jailton was on the Fedor work-out.

I assume it's carrying orphans over rivers to freedom and such things.

But fighters these days just dont have that much love or passion.

Now that I think about it, 3 warnings later, it's probably just the Japanese air. It's so fresh and better than America air.
