Firas: Conor is a bully fighter - gassed to Diaz due to psychological issues

Typical of the bullies to crumble when they get bulied back...
We'll see what happens in the rematch...

In before " I was surprised by Nate's size ( full camp ! ) ... I lost to the hyooger man "

Firas sounds salty as fuck towards Conor the way he keeps calling him a bully. You could argue he is just trying to describe a fighting style but no - the way he keeps saying bully, schoolyard bully etc - you can tell he genuinely hates Conor's personality.

I could understand if Conor was picking on random guys off the street but we're talking about sleazy prize fighting in a cage. He's going up against killers. Was he a 'bully' for calling out the P4P great?

I have much more disdain for a guy who pretends to be a 'respectful martial artist' or gentleman but then in the contest is a cheating prick via grease and PEDs.

Hmm, so if he's right then he would expect Conor to win the rematch, being that Conor was winning until he gassed and Nate's element of surprise is gone.

Except that his confidence is crushed and his whole game feeds off that.

I don't necessarily agree. I don't think Conor gassed at all. He was barely even breathing heavy after the first round. He out pointed Nate in round one.
In round two he was scoring as well but he was following Nate around with his hands down and without any respect for Nate. He got tagged on the chin and never recovered

He was a bit gassed after the first but tried to hide it, imo.

He's kind of right though. Conor doesn't start fighting when the bell rings, he starts fighting weeks in advance. He picks them apart mentally, way before fight night. Look at Aldo, and Poirier, Conor got in both of their heads. When he fought Nate, he couldn't get into his head. Nate won the first stage of the battle. Conor legitimately believed in his power, and when he hit Nate with bomb after bomb and Nate just slapped him, he had nothing left.

Nate slapped Conor's ego around like a cheap hooker.

Which describes the behaviour of a bully?
a) Gets a beating and retires. Spends 3 years calling guys out from the sidelines
b) Gets a beating and says 'lets go again' in the post-fight presser

Firas is just projecting.

Zahabi is a master of breakdown. His videos are always very interesting.
What i'm sure of is that Conor will not show up guns blazing this time.

Surprise at range and surprise in general.

Firas used to provide great analyses, but now he's just embarrassing himself.

I think it was just a bad choice of words, but I don't think he's offensive in his approach.

McGregor is used to walk down everyone and Nate didn't give him the chance to do that.

For a guy with his ego, seeing the other guy talking shit and slapping your face is very bad for your morale.

Also, his cardio was also poor against Mendes - people often ignore it because of the KO, but he was breathing hard by then.

Firas is not saying that Conor is shit. He's saying that he believes that once things don't go as expected, Conor tends to fold.

Sounds like a good analysis. Firas knows his shit. Nothing of what he said means Diaz doesn't also have better striking btw.

Maybe you just don't like what he's saying.

Because looking at it objectively, half of what he said here has already been proven true: Conor feeds off the idea of being untouchable, likes beating opponents down verbally to get an edge, and folded very fast as soon as he got rocked - none of these things are in question.

The fact that he's asking for Nate again has nothing heroic about it. It's his ONLY option right now. Going down to 145 right now seems like something that he and his team consider to be on the edge of impossible.

Yes, but from the interview I believe firas was trying to say that it's because Conor is a bully fighter that he went out there with his typical throw every punch hard, expect a first round ko, style. He's saying Conor has a bully mentality, and that it show's in his style; but when someone could stand up to the bully, the deficits of that style (gassing) come into play.

I feel like I explained that poorly, meh.

I get what you're saying, but I don't buy Firas' argument.

Very good synopsis, but you can't ignore putting on that kind of weight, eating differently and expect to have the same endurance for 5 rounds. Tough to have a body adjust to those things quickly. And Conor hasn't gone 5 rounds once. Put on a really high pace, didn't work, Diaz fought back and a number of things started going against him. Conor now knows what he's getting into, which will make a difference. How much? Who knows.
