Finnegan's Wake

Brandon flying submissions are awesome because they are so rarely used, they kinda lose their awesomeness when you try them several times every match :icon_chee

thats a load of garbage about penalty for guard pull... i jumped guard so hard on one poor kid on Saturday that I actually jumped mount. the kid folded backwards and I ended in mount.

if you're fighting a kid who's a collegiate wrestler, are you supposed to try to fight him for the takedown? prolly not.

Conditioning/ Skill Work

Bas Rutten's All Around Fighting

5 three minute rounds w/ one minute rest

Right straight practice. I don't know how many I threw, but I really focused on throwing it right and bringing it straight back.
Same w/ the jab.

Random: I was the entertainment for a guy visiting a roomate, so I explained what I'm training for and how.
Did some Catch Rows, a Sandbag complex, double end bag work, some padwork, a bear complex, suitcase deads, dumbell twists, anvil stuff, etc. All for one or sets, nothing really focused. Just showing him how I train and taking the opportunity to skip out on a game of Balderdash.

Impressions:
Not bad, but I seriously misjudged my nutrition on this one. Round 5 was Hell. I waited too long after eating, and was running completely on empty; so instead of sacrificing too much technique, I opted to end the workout a bit early and get some food. All the other stuff is what followed.
Sprawl clicked tonight. I find that Bas's tapes do that for me. I have to do something so many fucking times, and as long as I'm trying to do each one w/ excellent technique, the move eventually "clicks". Tonight, my sprawl was much, much faster.

Bringing the suck to Ascension 2008 Tournament, 5 minutes at a time.

Brandon i set up the training logs so you can embed movies... noob

Feb Conditioning Challenge: BW deadlifts

Current weight: 227
Weight Used: 230

Deadlift:
230 x 91 in 5 minutes, + 26 rep PR
rep breakdown: 30/20/20/10/5/5

And for good measure:
35 lbs DB Snatches x 100 (not timed)
rep breakdown: 20/20/10/10/5/5/5/5/5/5

Impressions:
I hear you're supposed to lift lighter weights faster instead of doing heavy sets the closer you get to a fight before cutting out the weights completely. I guess this is what they are talking about.
Anyway, I was aiming for 100 on the deads. Came up a little short. I'll give this anothter go before the end of the month when I weigh 225 or less. Next time, I'll do a 10 rep set, then 3 30 rep sets and pick up the spares at the end.

no way.....

fucking A! thats narly man! nice job!

get a vid next time for teh church!

I wanted to this time, but my shitty camera cuts out after 2 minutes. I'll have to borrow a better one.

I feel fine. Lower back has a wicked pump, but no pain or anything.

Unless you plan on picking your opponent up 92 times in a round, we can rest assured you will not be gassing, then. Insane.

Thanks Brandon. That was a crap point reduction. How many people do you know who pull gaurd on a guy's face? He was forced to change positions to avoid the sub. You should have gotten that point.

Morning Conditioning/ Skill Work
Double End Bag
3 three minute rounds, 1 min. rest. I used the rest to do some active recovery on my upper back w/ bands.
Rd 1: 1's 2's
Rd 2: 1-2's 1-2-1-2's
Rd 3: 1-1-2's 1-slip-3's

Conditioning:
Circuit repeated twice
Heavybag:
1-2's, 1-2-3b's x 90 seconds, 100 rope turns

Finisher: 5 minute hill/ snow/ ice run

Impressions:
Nothing major. Just getting some stuff in before work.

I have to work the Saturday of your fight. I am the gayzor. Good luck.

Absolutely.

Someone is going to have to step up and be the offensive, belligerent drunk in my absence. There must be a fight with Finny's opponent's crew. God wills it.

Hm, sucks that you can't make it. I'm sure more than one person will happily fill that role though...

And more 'fantastic' news to add to my month thus far: my right foot swelled up where I had that injury seven years ago again. I will hopefully find out what the hell happened today, and it better be a quick recovery on my part.

*shakes fist at sky pointlessly*
