Finnegan's Wake

No-gi grappling, at least for me, is GO GO GO, where as gi-grappling becomes more of a game of chess.

I just tried no-gi for the first time recently and have done it a couple times now. I feel the same way. After getting comfortable with a gi, I felt so rushed going no-gi. Whenever I roll with a gi, it's much less go go go.

Impressions:
Well, somehow, I got more flexible. I can rack the bar on my collarbone now for the push press. I will definitely hit the 225 next time I go for it being that I won't have a jacked up hand and I'll not do heavy bench beforehand, but I will do it after some back work.
Grip was only a slight issue w/ the deadlift, mostly due to the swelling. Not too big of a deal, as I didn't get into really heavy working sets that would require a belt, being my first day lifting heavy for two months.
Overall, I'm very happy with tonight's session. Would have been nice to hit the Push Press, but I'll get it next time.

Good to hear about the flexibility. I wonder if taking time off from heavy lifting helped?

Don't know. I'll have to see what my SOHP is. Perhaps a bit of loss in tricep mass is pulling on the damaged tendons less? Or, it could be the unilateral work I did.
Not really sure.

Hmm. My hand feels much, much better today. I wonder if I unjammed the fingers doing the deadlifts.

Don't know yet. Its fire tending season, too, so my interests may conflict.

Glad to hear that you're feeling better Stan.

Nice improvement on the OH pressing. I'll trade you 50lbs in OH strength for 100lbs of pulling strength.

Fight bikers and hippies at the bonfires to stay sharp.

He wouldn't let me take any pictures of the part of the dungeon that is chock-full-o legos.

Interesting...

You'll get that push press next time Finn. Draw upon the powers of the lego gods.

Yeah, I'm happy to have a month or two of some heavy lifting. I'll keep doing one or two complexes per session, though.
Basically, going back to the Ross split for a bit.

Will you be still doing morning GPP sessions as well, or was that just for when you're close to a competition?

Yes, I'll continue to do the morning interval stuff. I'm still dropping to 205, and the sooner the better.
As far as the drinking, yeah. I'm cutting it way, way back; probably once a week or so.

Couple questions on the double end bag Finny. I remember you talking about it some when you first got it and having to make adjustments, but I don't remember the details.
What diameter did you go with?
What kind of spring back are you looking for on the thing? Did you just play around until it felt right?

BTW, I start at a kick boxing school on Tuesday.
