Fighters who retired too early

He isn't a D1 wrestler by any means but for the current era he's pretty decent.

That speaks more about the current t era which is my point.

Almost no one has good grappling. There are only like 3 guys that wouldn't get grapple fucked by the top 10s between 2003-2015

100%. Crazy Bob Cook also retired undefeated, but he was only 5-0.

Man you learn new things every day, didn't know he fought lol. Makes sense though. He kinda disappeared from limelights too.

I just don't know what to make of miller myself. An undefeated record looks amazing tho.

I'll say Rich Franklin, I still think he had a lot left.

Khabib is one of the very obvious ones, I feel like he was only starting to get going in terms of facing top 10 opponents, he fought a few top 10 guys and then all of a sudden was retired. All in all its a shame

I thought Rich was going to beat Anderson too

Amagov and Zabit are huge ones, Adam Khaliev is another...insanely talented striker was rumored to be signed by the UFC after beating Magomedkerimov (former PFL champ) but then never debuted and didn't fight for like 10 years. A lot of Caucasian fighters lose their visa like Frodo Khasbulaev mid career and can never fight stateside again, or they get tied up with mafia shit or have some sort of odd religious awakening.

Daniel Puder is another weird one. There's gotta be a ton.

Oh yeah that's the name! Adam Khaliev, really, really, really wanted to see him come over but he never did :(

Not too sure what to make of Puder

Back in the day I thought GSP retired too early (the first time). He always seemed to learn from mistakes and past fights and I thought he would have figured out how to beat someone like Hendricks in future fights and stay champ for a long time.
But as time has gone on I have changed my mind to think he retired at the right time. As good as he was I think he was at his peak and probably would have only gone down if he kept fighting regularly.

He did. If I had my ways, GSP wasn't retiring without fighting Rob or Romero though.

I thought Rich was going to beat Anderson too
Me too, Rich was so well rounded and a great fighter, I was shocked how Anderson destroyed him. I knew how accurate and fast Anderson was, but I still thought it would be a much closer fight.

One of the greatest fighters of all time? What?

When does decisioning max holloway make you the goat? Islam sent him to the shadow realm with ease.

Bruh Volk deserves respect.

Martin Kampmann was a gamer and retired on a FOTN match against Condit where both guys had awesome moments. Would have liked to see him take some time off recover and retool and make a comeback

I think you could argue a lot of ex soviet guys involved in RINGS could probably have carried on for longer but when the org went down there was not really anywhere with a mass demand for such fighters, the very best guys like Fedor, Sergei, Arlovski etc obviously had a place but it wasnt really until the 2010's that MMA orgs worked out that Russians/Central Asians/Eastern Europeans were a good way to top up your roster on the cheap.

thats a great point, i'm sure there could've been, but just not enough opportunities.

Cant believe nobody mentioned Shane Carwin!

Oh dear SherDawg, what have u become, a playground for bathtub-braddas and newbs who buy their sheet… Oh dear SherDawg, where the real Shermanos at!?!?

He was like 36. I guess not old for hw, still, and injuries I think it was.

Dave Terrell
GSP
Carwin
Zabit
TJ Grant
Igor Zinoviev
Frank Shamrock
Rickson
Khabib
Cole Conrad

Rickson vs Saku we missed out on...

Dave Terrel was always an interesting one.

Conrad...what could've been..

and Frank, too bad about his career kinda getting cut short
