To me the obvious answer is Ronda Rousey. I'm not sure she could have regained the title, but she could for sure have won more fights.
I think those T/KO losses at the end and shitty situations in some fights (Aldo fence grabs, no camp vs. Conor) just killed his confidence/motivation, he probably realized the championship window was shut at that point.
Yeah, I think Mendes retired at a fine time. Just trying to think of someone who retired too early is a bit difficult.
Nice shoutout to Semerzier lol
Ngl, only remember him by getting subbed by purple belt as a decorated bjj black belt lol
I remember this, WEC ruled!Yeah he also subbed Wagnney Fabiano who was a 5th Degree Black Belt and was a huge upset at the time.
Mendes no doubt retired at a great time, dude went to War with Aldo, got TKO'd by Conor, got knocked the fuck out by Frankie, all within 2 years before the Volk fight, then got TKO'd by him, homie can only take so much brain damage and probably knew he would never win a belt at that pointIt's def not easy, and easy to forget too.
I dunno man, it's possible that was kind of the dark ages of MMA when Zuffa was just starting to get their shit together. I started following the sport in 2002 and he was already on his way out. Dude was 24 years old and 16-0....damn shame.Miller getting a lot of love. Wonder if anyone followed him during his run not after?
They're all cousinsdude would of ended up dead if he kept fighting. he had a serious heart condition, he's becoming a doctor now so thats a better net positive today.
don't worry though, I am sure Khabib has another cousin in the mountains of daegstan that will make a name for themself in the 145lb division.
Here's a throw back. But Clint Hester. Think he's a full time fire fighter now.
Are we calling retiring just not coming back or actually putting on the whole retirement show?
Because Brock still also had more left in him. But unfortunately testing probably really forced him out. But we can still blame the divercilitous wink wink
To be honest though I feel he left at amount the right time, the JDS fight really exposed his limitation as a striker.
For me it's this guy. Retired at 3-0 professional record. Really wanted to see how far he could go
