Fedor's GnP was insane

I think Fedor’s greatest strength were his transitions.

At his peak, fighters were always stuck in first gear because they simply couldn’t adjust.
He punches Nog with a overhand right from 5 blocks away, flings him to the mat, jumps in for a stomp, soccer kick, then jumps out and then steps away so nog has to get up wondering wtf just happened and then he does it to him again.

That takes me back. I was at that event with a friend. We were karate-ka that had met some Japanese MMA fighters and started working with them. One of the Pride judges ran an MMA gym in Roppongi, and we got floor seats to a bunch of events. I had been to maybe 4-5 Prides and everyone was really impressed with Nog, and we all thought that Nog would end up submitting Fedor.

None of us could believe that Nog took the shots he did and was still conscious. This was Fedor's big "coming out" fight -- until then, no one knew how amazing he really was. It was a great fight, and a great set up for the biggest ever (IMO), Fedor vs Cro Cop.

Everyone I knew became a Fedor fan after he beat Nog, who most people thought they'd never see lose.

YOU WERE AT THIS EVENT LIVE????

Epic!!! Would be awesome if you had any pictures!!!

Every Fedor thread is like old guys chatting about the old days

This discussion is hilarious. Imagine a thread discussing the most devastating standing strikes in history and insisting one that didn’t visibly impair the opponent is the winner and that it’s not debatable. Yet with fedor, not accepting that his gnp that didn’t visibly impair his opponent isn’t the most devastating gnp of all time is met with scorn. All rational thought goes out the window. It’s like a religion…

Really rational of you claiming Stipes GnP KO of 37 year old CTE fossil Reem who had 17 KO losses was more impressive than Fedors GnP of Nogueira who was 28, in his prime and never been stopped, not to mention he was a much better grappler off his back than Reem.

Delusional thirsty ass shill lol

During that time frame, it appeared Olympic wrestling was almost the final word in mma. Other than a few aberrations that Maurice Smith and Pete Williams were able to capitalize on, no one was ever expected to have any success against a legit heavyweight wrestler on the ground.

Then Nogueira comes along and not only has good striking, but also has the bjj of a middleweight. He proceeds to completely neutralize Coleman and turns him into a pretzel.

Does it end there? No. Along comes Fedor and completely revamps the system. He doesn’t straight up strike and grapple……he seamlessly transitions between one style and another. Everything Nog wants to do, he does something else. Nog flounders throughout all 3 fights trying to figure out Fedor to no avail.

Yes. This was Fedor's final advantage, his approach. He not only had a very specific gameplan to exploit the weaknesses he could find, but he also prepared himself to be ready for most situations, regardless of what his opponent did. Nogueira has to constantly play catch up,because Fedor wasnt fighting how he expected, and trying to adjust to a guy who has you completley figured out...damn.

Nog looked strongest in the 2nd fight but too bad it ended the way it did.

Where's the guy who posts the Hendo KO pictures in a fedor thread. Is he here?
Lol I dunno. I mean, you could fill that role if you wanted. None of us Fedor fans have EVER seen those GIFs before, and it would no doubt change our entire perspective of Fedor’s career, and trigger us emotionally in unspeakable ways.

How advanced was Fedor's GnP vs. Levon Lagvilava? Because while Lesnar was taking on a former UFC champ in his second fight, Fedor was fighting nobodies. Pride bias and intelligence are indirectly proportional around here (I doubt any Prideaholics will get that one without 20 minutes on the internet and a few conversations with math friends).
What are you even talking about? Levon fight wasnt even in Pride,he hadnt got there yet. Obviously he was not going to be fast tracked like Lesnar was, because Lesnar was already a crossover star from elsewhere. But heyyy your the one talking about intelligence.... thats funny.

As perfectly as Fedor fought Nog still managed to take him down and looked fresher by the end of the fight. Could have been interesting. But Fedor fought the perfect fight for 3 rounds, rationing his energy perfectly. Possibly his best and most cerebral performance ever.

Lesnar's GnP on Mir in the second fight was very brutal.
Eh

I think Lesnar did not have that much power. Its more so mir was trapped and could do nothing about it.

Which fight? the 3rd?
Yeah Fedor of course got tired from throwing a 245 lb guy to the mat all night long, but it was only really in the last 30 seconds, but Nogueira couldnt catch up in time. Too late, too late.

People mention what if the time was unlimited? well Fedor would have fought differently,so it doesnt matter hahaha

LET US PRAISE FEDOR WITH GREAT PRAISE
