Fedor has 7 top 5 wins

GSP has 17

coffeeandbeer knows, he made the GSP top 5 thread back in 2013 that I have archived

17 of those who didn't think they could make it at MW,let alone at LHW and let alone at HW:)

Lill fun for you:)

Pride was different though, ufc champs don't fight a bunch of cans.fedor had a lot of gimme flights

fedor = ronda

dominant while the sport was still young so the talent pool was poor

im a huge fedor fan but lets get real

Obvious goat by far. Specially at heavyweight this whole p4p stuff is dumb since heavyweight is the biggest dudes and Fedor reigned there. Either way it's impressive. I'm not sure why he picked the Japanese org, but it is the first time in his career he picked the weaker option. Strike force and affliction had talent for him to fight, not this new org. I'm still optimistic as it is only 1 or 2 fight deal :)

It's unlikely, but Cain could pull it off. He's 4 years off from that record. He fights once a year. So he just has to win 4 in a row.

He'd be a prohibitive favorite against anyone other than Werdum right now. Werdum is pretty old, and there are precious few rising challengers at HW. If some animal emerged today, they still might not get a shot for 3 years or so. Conor is as popular and successful a fighter as anyone to emerge in the UFC, and it took him nearly 3 years to get Aldo in the cage.

I would love to see Fedor vs Velasquez, UFC 200.

Whoa, GSP doesn't have no17 top 5 wins. He has 17 top 10 wins. I think his top 5 count is like 12 or 13. But I'm sure C&B will correct me if I'm wrong.

Do you hate Fedor?

I love Fedor, I love Velasquez.

It's not that bad of a matchup for Fedor.

Velasquez not a huge guy... he's a volume guy... he fairly hittable and doen't have the most stout chin. Fedor can put him down.

(well, that all depends on how much of Fedor is left, and that's what I want to see)

He hasn't fought in 3 years, he hasn't beaten a top level fighter in over 5 years, and is at an old age. Come on man.

It's why we have the fights!

Lets see it happen. No BS. No yapping. Fight.

We'll know more about where Fedor is this NYE.

not only was the sport young but people were still very much figuring out how it worked back then. you still got guys that had no striking, or no wrestling, or no ground game. the women nowadays are learning from the same up-to-date trainers as the guys. back then was the stone age.

he was a pioneer and he had an incredible run, but it was a totally different sport back then. if you actually watch the fights from back then, a lot of them were complete garbage full of loads of stalling and waiting around.

Werdum was better than Lesnar when he defeated Emelianenko, and he was even at that time, just about the worst possible match-up for Lesnar in the division. There is a massive difference between Werdum's guard game compared to Mir's, doubt Lesnar would be able to do much of anything on top of him. Lesnar was never the best HW in the world, but it's neat to see the reigns spread out like this.

Fedor was as good as reputed to be. He was fast, and he was fearless. As is the case with most greats, his opponents were defeated mentally before they even fought.

i say a solid reign over the next 5 years, cleaning out the division... that could make the debate much more interesting.

What about 5 years of freakshow fights, mixed with 2-3 past contenders sprinkled in?
