Fedor is BY FAR the Longest Reigning Consensus #1 Ranked HW

How do you explain the average age of the TOP 5 HW's being 34.2? Are you saying none of those guys are in their primes? Same age Fedor was when he lost

I love Fedor but everyone who fought for pride should have an asterisk next to their record there. From Uber Wandy to crocop to the reem and unfortunately also Fedor. Not simply PED's but stoppages, match ups and so on.

It's called the sad state of the HW division. There no legit sport in the world where the athletic prime of the competitors is that old. It's that way in the ufc because there is no new talent coming in.

Seriously, you don't understand why avenging a loss matters, or are you just being dramatic?

No no.. I don't get why people pretend that erases a loss. As if the loss is now moot. I think it's great for a fighter to do and fun to see. But I find it weird some people act like GSP (and others) are undefeated if they avenge losses.

I don't think avenging does anything to prove "flukes", as you'd need to run a test at least 10 times to have some idea of fluke vs not.

I just find it odd, man. I'm not anti-avenging.

I think Fedor is in the discussion for the top 4 GOATS and I don't think there's a clear cut #1 as its almost impossible to compare them.

Just think it's not a true statement that he didn't lose in his prime - he lost at 33/34 (average age of the TOP HW's today) and to guys the same age or older.

Then I think you're playing it wrong, lol. I always make deals, force people into unfair loans. 100% steal money. it's what reminds me how capitalism works, :P

I'm not calling age a prime. GSP was clearly in his prime during his loss to Hughes and 110% for sure when Serra finished him. At the bear minimum he lost once in his prime and couldn't finish competition in his prime.

Don't know if you noticed, but HW primes are usually faster than everyone else... due to giant gorillas punching you in the face.

GSP was not in his prime when he lost to Hughes, nor was he in his prime when he beat Penn the first time. GSP had a lot to overcome mentally, and both losses lead to the monster who crushed Hughes in their third fight, Serra in their second fight, and Penn in their second fight.

You should reexamine the governing body and sanctioning of the UFC at that time.

Someone seriously needs to write a book about those days. None of it was well controlled or monitored and it was all pretty cray-cray.

I think the majority of champions are in their 30's - the average age if Middleweight top 5's is also around the mid 30 range.

How is a sad state that the average age of top HW's is 34? Young guys are just not making a splash.

Examples? I'm not saying you're wrong but I do know people were getting popped for PED's are early as 2002 in the UFC - let's see list of Pride guys who got popped when they fought in Japan.

I hear you except that aside from Chuck, there are not really many legendarily dominant fighters from the UFC in that era, there were a lot of freak shows and it is understood the legitimacy was dubious at best, however people do like to speak of all these Pride legends as if their records were not in question.

You really drank the Zuffa cool aid didn't you young man? The UFC has always been full of steroids, favorable match ups for stars, and back room bonuses. Acting like pride was different because they were transparent and consistent in who they were, and what they were, is you ridiculous. The UFC didn't have the money to pay for much of a heavyweight division during Fedor's time. They had three divisions which meant they had a few lhw's to pay, Matt Hughes, and whoever else they could afford at hw, which wasn't much of a division. In Affliction, Fedor beat all of the contemporary champions in your "unasterisked" UFC, along with all of the international stars in Pride who demanded a much higher salary than the UFC could afford. He then went to Strikeforce in 2009, which clearly had a better hw division than the UFC had. Fedor hasn't fought in the UFC, but he has always fought in the org with the best hw division.

As a HW no one is going to beat being for #1 for 7 years anytime soon. Wont happen this decade, that is certain

Twister at least ends. Monoploy drags on, and on, and on. Its worse than smashing my dick with a hammer, because at least that doesnt take all day.

It's unlikely, but Cain could pull it off. He's 4 years off from that record. He fights once a year. So he just has to win 4 in a row.

He'd be a prohibitive favorite against anyone other than Werdum right now. Werdum is pretty old, and there are precious few rising challengers at HW. If some animal emerged today, they still might not get a shot for 3 years or so. Conor is as popular and successful a fighter as anyone to emerge in the UFC, and it took him nearly 3 years to get Aldo in the cage.

Well no shit, there are only 4 more years this decade.

You must have been paying with people of equal intellect and kindness. I always smash or get smashed at a pretty standard game-length of time.

Hard to live up to Fedor's legacy. There are fighters in this day in and age with great winning streaks yes, but none quite as long against such competition and with such decisive wins. All exciting fights from a great athlete and all around human being!

GSP: great fighter, great run but got boring in the end and won by yawnfest decisions

Silva: Put on some crap fights and pissed everyone off. Let's not forget the whole steroids fiasco.

Jones: Most entertaining fights over all compared to Silva,GSP but had to make those personal life mistakes.

Over all Fedor's fights have been the most entertaining and exciting. If I had to pick one of the 4 I talked about in this post to watch their fights all day I would pick Fedor.

You're simply assuming about the UFC. Pride not only didn't drug test for them but they encouraged fighters to use PEDs. They tried to influence the results of fights backstage. There was no legitimate sanctioning body in Japan. I mean for fuck's sake... they could've done whatever they wanted. Everyone knows that the UFC HW division wasn't as strong as Pride's, but that doesn't discount the fact that HW in general is a shitty division.
