I really hope that Conor is staying silent because he knows this is getting him huge media attention or that the gang set him up. I know its seems unlikely but one can hope. I was actually looking forward to his downfall which was obviously coming but not this, its too much man and really going to give MMA a bad name, especially after the UFC used his crazy behaviour to hype his fights.

Yeah, part of me is thinking the radio silence from McGregor is indicating that he's innocent and is using this as free publicity.
Other part of me is thinking the silence is due to him being guilty (or involved in some way or another)
and his lawyers telling him to keep his mouth shut.

Posted in reference to people saying rte cant be accused of sensationalisation, but the head of government accused them and the investigative journalism in general in Ireland as doing that only 6 months ago

Its funny how so many people only see what they want to. The point Im making is that somebody said that rte and the investigative journalism in ireland can not be accused of sensationalisation, yet there is an article from their leader of government from 6 months ago accusing them of sensationalisation. I did post a link to the article but not sure if the post was verified yet. I would quote the person who made the statementabout them being above such accusations, but the thread has removed my quote buttom for some reason

It would almost be a genius move on his part. Not only is he getting more media attention than he could in any other way but for everyone accusing him are going to look like haters and hard to take seriously in the future. However the story just adds up and thinking otherwise is wishful thinking at this point.

If I were to start writing about American politicians and their criticisms of the media then I would not know where to stop.

I can't speak to Irish politiciians and the media but I have my doubts that it is much different.

Just noticed his instagram account seems to be bleeding around 3000 followers over the last 2 days alone (according to https://socialblade.com/instagram/user/thenotoriousmma )
However, his twitter account seems to be gaining followers.

The law in Ireland is such that the accused CANNOT be named.

Rape cases have a less than 50% conviction rate.

So.. if the case goes to court. And IF the accused is founf guilty, the perps name still wouldn't be released unless the victim waived anonymity.

That's why the accused hasn't made any public statement.
The matter might take up to two years to come to a conclusion, and even then, the accused cannot be named without consent of the victim.

The law is based around the right to a fair trial, and the right to privacy for the sexually abused victim

Irish law differs to that in the US.

Guilty or not.. the name of the perp, might never be officially be broadcast to the public.

someone else named rte, not me, saying they could not be accused of sensationalisation, but clearly they can. Im not giving an opinion on whether I think he did it, or someone else did it or any of that, because based on the facts that have come out, I dont think there is enough information for me personally to make that conclusion, and I personally believe that the media have as much motivation to hint that it might be him for their own gain as if he actually was the accused, and therefore I don't think it can be assumed that it 100% is. You don't know what details they have even left out i.e. the woman might have said her attacker had bright purple hair and no tattoos, but if they wanted people to think it was conor to sell more papers, they wouldnt put that would they

This is true but if he is accused, guilty and not named, he will be pulling a disappearing act and vanish off the face of the planet.
