I wouldn't count on it, they are always broken at launch. To be fair though there is a lot going on in their games to account for

Been a fan of theirs since fallout1/daggerfall and I would put the odds of a smooth launch for fallout4 at zero percent.

ummm what???

Their DLC is always stand alone and never needed to enjoy the game. Also the DLC is to notch and comes way after the initial release. You get more then fair value for that 60 bucks.
You do realize that buying the DLC is actually more expensive than just getting the GOTY version? They basically force you to buy the game twice, which is nothing but a big "fuck you" to everyone that supports them by paying full price on release. Skyrim was the last time I made that mistake.

Love their games, but I'll wait.

Bethesda didn't start making Fallout games until Fallout 3. Interplay made Fallout 1 and Black Isle Studios made the second one.

Anybody got an idea on where the game is set? I saw the obelisk and immediately thought "what, DC again?", but it seemed too short and there were buildings too close to it so it can't be DC...

Its bound to have bugs. It wont be "broken" though. For me Skyrim was a relatively smooth experience upon launch.

Yeah Skyrim was ok for me too. It's been a while but I remember FO3 becoming an issue after the save file became like 15MB. Unfortunately FONV was broken from the beginning. All on PS3.

It's confirmed that it's Boston.

Didn't Skyrim have a bug for ps3 that would make the game crash when the saves got too big?

And fallout new Vegas had some of the worst load times I ever experienced on a console.

I will say that even though the graphics themselves aren't the greatest, the art design is fantastic. Bethesda usually does a great job at crafting their environments.

Sorry for not fact checking it but do pay attention to my daggerfall comment.

Yup. But no one is forcing you to buy either. You can play the regular release and never play a single DLC if you didn't want to. It is in ow way a "big fuck you" to people who support their stuff. The DLC comes starts coming out about a year after the release and it takes about a year to release all of them. Then after another year or so of release a GOTY edition with all the DLC and the game patched to the point of it running without problems.

I think you just have a problem with DLC in general which is totally fine. I'm not a big fan of it either but Bethesda does it right.

Maybe you're right. I just don't remember having problems with the DLC's like I did with FO3.

I bet it's November this year. It's been 7 years since Fallout and 4 years since Skyrim. That's plenty of time, they've just done a nice job of keeping it under wraps. They're showing box art ffs.

Would t surprise me. If I remember correctly, Skyrim was announced something like 6 months prior to release. Xcom 2 was just announced for a November release. Seems like some studios are avoiding the cycle of announcing early, only to be left with little new info to show a coupe years later and inevitable delays. I bet the Witcher 3mcontroversy didn't help. Seems like 6 months is a good time period to release when they hype is still strong.

Personally, I hope more studios follow suit.

I played Skyrim on PC, and I ran into a bug in the main quest that wouldn't let me continue the story. The details are a little fuzzy now, but I remember that it was at some part where I had to talk to a guy through a door. He wouldn't let me say something that would prompt the next part of the quest. I ended up going online and finding a way to fix, which I think amounted me to skipping ahead to the next quest segment. I remember though that if the bug had been on a console, there would have been no way around it except to wait for a patch to come out

Horse Armor. :icon_lol:

Seriously though after that the DLC they cranked out has been decent at worst. Not a fan of how they stagger the release dates for them.

I usually end up buying the base game and then wait for the GOTY version to go on sale when it's the price of one DLC.

I remember playing Skyrim and the Thieves Guild gives you a suit in the beginning and later on you need it to get an upgrade an continue. Didn't mark it as a quest item, didn't let you know you needed it until the end and didn't have a spare to pick up and thus couldn't continue the quest line. Had to wait for them to patch it.

I've been playing Bethesda games since Arena and the bugs like we see now a days didn't really start up until Fallout 3. All the early stuff ran well without any real bad bugs like you saw on the PS3/360 era. I did play all the early stuff on PC up until Oblivion though. But even Oblivion on the 360 ran pretty smooth.

Actually, anyone remember the rumor mills a while ago that said Fallout 4 is gonna take place in Boston and also had a voiced protagonist?
Imagine my surprise face when both are true.

Uggh. Totally forgot about.... Horse Armor..... Yeah that one of if not the worse ever.

Thats also how I but the game. I play it for a ton of time then put it away for a few years and buy the GOTY year edition down the line. Hell I'm just playing through NV DLC right now. Never got around to it and the GOTY was 13 bucks at walmart a few months back.

And what a fucking mess that was before the first patch..

I honestly have no idea about that. I didn't start with the Fallout franchise until Fallout 3 and Bethesda took over. My 1998 gaming year was entirely consumed Myth II: Soulblighter. Hell I don't think I played any other PC game for years. It was a fun time where when I picked up the phone people were amazed because all they got was a busy tone for days on end. :icon_chee

Here's also a comparison of Fallout 3 and Gears of War that were released around the same time and it clear to see Fallout has never been about that big wow factor in the graphics department.

Most fun I ever had playing games online

There was some real game breaking bugs. I actually managed to finish Fallout 2 without patching even tho some people even claimed it was impossible. But it was very frustrating. I played it through like the 4th time maybe two years ago with all official & unofficial patches. It's still a great experience.

Myth II was a great game too. Throwing those bombs (or were they molotovs?) at large groups of enemies was priceless.

Lol, jesus, dude. It was an observation based on expectations of some of the next gen titles we've seen. You can relax a bit. Like I've already said, I'm sure the game will be great.

Black Isle made fantastic games, but they did have a serious issue with QA, and they've brought that with them after black isle folded. Take a look at the Troika catalog. Absolutely stellar games, but left to the community to fix. Think I'll have to start another run of Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura right now.

lol im totally relaxed. Guess Im not coming off that way. All that stuff I posted was first on GAF. You should see the crazy that's happening over there.

My experience with Bethesda started with Oblivion... so bugs have been normal for me.

I think Horse Armor was the progenitor of the whole "DLC is bullshit" movement.

That comparison picture really shows how bad that engine has aged. NV came out in 2012 god damn!

I hope the total package reflects how much color is in the trailer. FO3 and NV were just a pile of muddy colors. NV being a bit more colorful but still pretty bland.

I never had any real problems with skyrim, FO3 or FONV on PS3. I've beaten all three multiple times. Probably most playthroughs on FO3. I would save often just in case but never really ran into any major bugs. My latest playthrough of FO3 I have about 60 hours on currently and I've maybe had 3 freezes.

That's why I generally avoid real video game forums. But yeah, I thought you were throwing some of these together lol.

Whose going to get that amazing Season Pass for only $30? About time Bethesda did this.

More color seems to be the theme. That trailer was bursting with it compared to the previous two titles.

I'd also really love a voice acted character, which seems to be the case this time.

Bethesda is one company I'd feel comfortable buying a game season pass for. Their DLC's are usually more than worth it.

I've always been impressed with Bethesda games graphics based purely on scope.

I do like the improved colour scheme though. Blue sky > brown sky.

What do you get with the season pass?

All DLC they release for Fallout 4. They usually release a lot of DLC for all their games. Each one usually goes for 15-20 bucks when the launch, so it's a great value.
