Avery Brooks attempted to Shakespeare every bit of dialogue he was given. Stewart's Picard would have easily been the same but was better at channeling a naval commander persona.
Yeah, Im never too big a fan of the Bajoran stuff. I like it at all though, but business doesn't really pick up for me until the Defiant and Sisko's bald head/goatee come into play, especially the Defiant undocking with a badass flyby in the intro. By then we're getting into the Dominion War with Worf as a regular. You know, for years I loved DS9 but when I revisited it a couple of years ago, it didn't hold up for me. I enjoyed most of it but all of Sisko's Bajoran Emmisary mysticism really deflated the show for me.
I didn't like him at all in those early seasons when I first watched it. From what I recall he wasn't feeling it either at first. It really showed for me until around the shaved head and his promotion.Avery Brooks attempted to Shakespeare every bit of dialogue he was given. I used to not like the early seasons at all, but I've come to appreciate the calmer time and life aboard the station, especially with Dukat stirring shit up. There are so many great characters too, prob my fav ensemble overall.

That in itself is not preachy. Also you were not in his mind when he wrote, we do not know for sure how it came together.Haven't seen it, so I can't comment.
By preachy I just mean the stories are heavily organised around conveying a moral and/or political message.

I work in an office with 30ish people, two are trans, one with a trans partner. My life is woke.Trans makes up less than 1% of the population so it's not realistic.
And no one wants to see fat ugly people as stars on TV.
- That's is so true. People dont even know what politic is anymore! Not sure about movies, might not matter much.
For businesses, you need to stay politically neutral. Or you will lose customers. That goes for the right and the left.
Look at Michael Jordan: "Hey, Republicans buy shoes."
- So. Are you gonna hit?I work in an office with 30ish people, two are trans, one with a trans partner. My life is woke.
not up to yours, apparently! DS9 is certified GOATed Trek seriesScience fiction shows not up your standards?
Guess I shouldn't mention how much I liked B5.
- Only the ones that present wrestling matters.Wow. Just look at all the woke companies that went broke.
The NFL, NBA, Nike, Target, Mars, Pepsi, Amazon, Coke, Anheiser Busch, Bass Pro, Starbucks, Petsmart, American Airlines, Carhartt, and Under Armor were all great companies. Then they went woke, and went broke.
Negative- So. Are you gonna hit?
- I assume you're a leftist. Leftists never hit trannies. Conservatives always do that in the hidding!Negative
Garak, Odo, & Worf are my holy trinity for Trek charactersShit, yeah, now comes the Star Trek talk.
DS9 is one of the best spin offs of all time, but almost everything Bajor or Kira was a complete bore. But that's Star Trek. A few low points, a lot of mostly pretty good, and then a fair degree of highs.
One of my favorite scenes from DS9 is when Dukat is explaining to Kira specifically why he chose to kill some Bajorans when he was running DS9 and make an example out of them. Yeah, it was a very dictator thing to do. Yet, hard to argue with his logic. Star Trek was great at creating moments like that.
As a whole DS9 was a really cool addition to the Trekverse because it was the first time you had a large group of characters that were basically always at odds. On the enterprise, the crew is on the same side and more or less has the same philosophy. Complete opposite on DS9. Basically no one saw eye to eye on anything and it made constant dramatic clashes.
Worf is one of the best characters ever created on TV. COME AT ME.
Kira sucks.
Garak could have had his own show and every arc he'd basically be Leonard Burling from The Outift. (yes, thats a really obscure reference. But go watch The Outfit with Mark Rylance and thank me later)
Very respectable.Garak, Odo, & Worf are my holy trinity for Trek characters

Oh, Discovery? I was trying to figure out which one you were even talking about, I thought it was SNW, Discovery has been out for awhile. Never heard any complaints about LBGTQ characters in that, just heard it's not good.A bit different than 6-7 major characters being gay or trans.
There's a trans character, a nonbinary character, a pansexual, one gender fluid, plus gay characters. There's a difference between normal representation and woke pandering.
Star Trek Discovery is known as one of the queerest shows on TV and the writing sucks. So it is literally lame and gay.
