Excuses will be invalid when Gane dominates Jones

We all know it's a toss up.

The big variables are Jon's ring rust and his timidity.

If he's aggressive Pride murderin Jones and forces clinch striking, gets takedowns, and drops gnp from Hell... Gane is fucked.

If he comes out tentative and only interest in trying to eyepoke from kickboxing range hoping to win on points, Gane is going to light him up.
"If he's aggressive Pride murderin Jones"

Jones isn't fighting a blown-up middleweight this time.

Jones will dominate Gane. That fight will probably be the second most dominating beating Jones has dished out. Second to the Matt Hammill beating

To this day I believe that the Hammill fight was merely a late stoppage.

That "sloppy brawler" would be a clear favourite to beat Jones. Being much bigger, much stronger and more powerful matter in a fight, Jones doesn't have these advantages over Gane. If Ngannou had "one knee" he would have got destroyed, he wouldn't have got in the cage if he felt seriously debilitated.

Jones' "world class IQ, chin and grappling" aren't going to win him this fight, he's getting pieced up.
Prime Jones would crush Gane. If he doesn’t, it’s a loss to Father Time only. Jones is a really bad style matchup for a guy with low power, no grappling and low fight IQ. He may be able to piece sloppy brawlers up on the feet but the threat of the takedown will neutralize most of his striking and he’ll likely spend a long time back to the cage or on his back on the ground.

Ring Rust will always be a good excuse

and the fact he waited so long to move up he is to old to transition

and he didnt pulse otherwise a victory would have been guaranteed

Is all pressure on Jones now ?

Gane has unreal skill advantage.

He could even pick up Jones and take him down, if he wanted.

It would be cool if Jon won though.

Jones is a 4/6 favourite to beat Gane.

A narcissist like Jones wouldn't be taking this fight if he didn't believe he was at or close to his best, he knows that Gane is a serious operator. Jones hasn't got a paycheck-chasing journeyman's mentality, nor is he the kind of fighter who is happy to blemish his record for the love of the sport.

Jones' performances against Santos and Reyes were lacklustre but he'd been lineal UFC LHW champion since 2011 and was likely relatively unmotivated fighting guys he was massively favoured to beat. We'll see a more motivated Jones against Gane.

Jones will be very similar to Gane in weight and is virtually the same height, with a 3.5 inch reach advantage.

There is no Jones footage to study at HW and no Jones footage to study in the last 3 years.

Jones has a massive experience advantage over Gane (15-0 vs 0-1 in title fights) and he's 35, not 40+.

If Gane beats Jones it's because he's better than Jones, not because Jones has slipped.
Are you saying Gane would the a better fighter that night, or are you suggesting he would be considered a better fighter than Jones over all?

What is with these threads lately that claim Gane/Jones will “dominate”, “make it look easy” and such?
Was Jones ever dominated? Was Gane?
It will probably be a hard fought, tactical and drawn-out affair.
Gane hasn't really fought a wrestler yet, while Jon has seen it all. I think if anyone dominates this fight it'll be Jon with his wrestling. But, If he can't consistently take Gane down and hold him there then it'll probably be a pretty competitive striking match.

If Gane wins then Jones is a ring rusted bloated LHW with too much beach muscle

Also Gane is a just a paper champ who got outwrestled by injured Ngannou

“Jones is past his prime” “prime jones slaughters him” “Jones forgot to take steroids during training camp”
That too but he’s old with a ton of fight mileage on him and his lifestyle hasn’t been great on him. He’s slowed down considerably since his peak. I still got him winning in a close decision that will piss a lot of people off.

Not a fan of Jones but I admit that’s a pretty good way of look at it

Brock Lesnar fought Mark Hunt after a 4.5 year layoff.
Is normal.
Actually a great example but I would favor Jones vs ANY version of Hunt more than I do against Gane. Hunt was damn near tailor made for Brock as long as he didn’t become K1 Lesnar. Gane would beat the shit out of any form of Brock so then there’s that

If it's a close fight, Jones wins. In fact, if it goes to decision, Jones wins.

Gane needs a finish. So it's just a case of whether Gane can get it done inside 5.
