Excuses will be invalid when Gane dominates Jones

Jones may be way past his prime but his world class fight IQ, chin and his grappling against a one dimensional, pillow fisted kick-boxer will win him this.

Jones haters will claim it was a robbery and he’ll likely never fight at HW again. But I can really see him pulling this off. A sloppy brawler managed to grind Gane to a decision with one knee and zero grappling background. Jones is one of the best MMA grapplers ever.

Nah... Jon is fighting since 2008, he's old in fighting years with a lot of ring rust.

His bulk doesn't look right either, he looks very top heavy.

If he makes this competitive it would be a great achievment- at least that's how I see it.

Jones would be the firstfighter in the history of the sport to return to face a legitimate title contender after a 3 year layoff and zero tuneup fights. Don’t even try that GSP vs Ping shit. There is zero excuse in a fistfight. You either win or you lose but you sound pretty dumb with this thread
Brock Lesnar fought Mark Hunt after a 4.5 year layoff.
Is normal.

I knew this day would come where they hold Jones to standards they call you a hater for holding their Pride stars to. "So what Shogun was 29 he was washed".

Won't be neccessary cause Jones is gonna win but it's still hillarious.

Shogun had blown his knee out about three times. You can see the change in his style devolution to being a plodding brawler.

jones definitley looked very beatable in his last few fights so "normally" it should be a close fight that could go either way.

Jones is a degenerate who couldn't handle the little bit of fame or money he earned. That isn't up for debate, but I've quit underestimating him. He's talented as fuck and has pretty much had a free pass to cheat and juice. So, I guess we'll see.

Jones is a 4/6 favourite to beat Gane.

A narcissist like Jones wouldn't be taking this fight if he didn't believe he was at or close to his best, he knows that Gane is a serious operator. Jones hasn't got a paycheck-chasing journeyman's mentality, nor is he the kind of fighter who is happy to blemish his record for the love of the sport.

Jones' performances against Santos and Reyes were lacklustre but he'd been lineal UFC LHW champion since 2011 and was likely relatively unmotivated fighting guys he was massively favoured to beat. We'll see a more motivated Jones against Gane.

Jones will be very similar to Gane in weight and is virtually the same height, with a 3.5 inch reach advantage.

There is no Jones footage to study at HW and no Jones footage to study in the last 3 years.

Jones has a massive experience advantage over Gane (15-0 vs 0-1 in title fights) and he's 35, not 40+.

If Gane beats Jones it's because he's better than Jones, not because Jones has slipped.

Umm no ..

There's two basic storylines to this fight .

Does Jones believe in ring rust and will it affect him as ring rust is a mental thing only or will he be coming in super Sharp final form Jones...

The other storyline being .

That does Gane have enough MMA experience to deal with a super sharp final form Jones he only has 13 fights and has lost at the highest level of the sport Jones is undefeated and is a long time Champion at light heavyweight (key word being heavyweight) and has always been a heavyweight he is not small he's not going to be the smaller fighter Jones has the reach advantage does Gane have what it takes to deal with all that...

This is what this fight is about..

What is with these threads lately that claim Gane/Jones will “dominate”, “make it look easy” and such?
Was Jones ever dominated? Was Gane?
It will probably be a hard fought, tactical and drawn-out affair.

I agree there'd be no excuse, it'd be a reason. You can't have it both ways, girls. If you talk about how Jon has looked less than stellar in his last few fights and hasn't fought in 3 years while moving up to the big boy league, but want to preface a possible loss with "you can't use that as an excuse", you're a fucking idiot.

You're contradicting your own reasons for your prediction. It's not an excuse if it's fucking true. Goddamn.

And Jones had toe injury changed his style not as creative didn’t use judo techniques in wrestling anymore much slower less athletic explosive but he is to good anyway

We all know it's a toss up.

The big variables are Jon's ring rust and his timidity.

If he's aggressive Pride murderin Jones and forces clinch striking, gets takedowns, and drops gnp from Hell... Gane is fucked.

If he comes out tentative and only interest in trying to eyepoke from kickboxing range hoping to win on points, Gane is going to light him up.

Absolutely retarded to think a guy who won the title 12 fucking years ago hasn't slipped... put your fucking helmet on.

Jon presumably thinks he is still good enough at 70% or whatever he is, to win this fight. And he is getting a pile of money, win or lose, possibly a bigger pile and definitely a subsequent big pile if he wins, so big incentive to win.

Shogun was goddamn wrecking ball before his knees got fucked up.

Difference was night and day.

Also unified rules took away some of his best weapons. Just my $0.02, but I never saw a man step on faces as beautifully as Shogun Rua.

God these “Jones is gunna lose because I don’t like him!” Threads are getting real old quick…

I guess we shouldn’t watch the fight then if Gane is just so big and scary and It’s such a forgone conclusion right? I don’t even like Jones but to count him out the way these threads have been is absolutely ridiculous.

Bingo. Stakes are as high as it gets.

Neither one of these men are going to risk a mistake. This is gonna be a standoffish chess match, a battle of wills.

The number of people who are overly confident in Jones is hilarious. The cheat hasn't fought in more than three years. His fans romanticize the time he defeated Cormier over a half-decade ago as if it's still relevant.

That "sloppy brawler" would be a clear favourite to beat Jones. Being much bigger, much stronger and more powerful matter in a fight, Jones doesn't have these advantages over Gane. If Ngannou had "one knee" he would have got destroyed, he wouldn't have got in the cage if he felt seriously debilitated.

Jones' "world class IQ, chin and grappling" aren't going to win him this fight, he's getting pieced up.

I sense excuses.
