I went through this NYT article of 71 men in politics and the entertainment figureheads who have been accused and resigned in disgrace, and a grand total of 5 of them were Republicans, and none of them were well-known.

1. It's also entirely in character for progressives to cynically lie about something like this for political advantage. We've seen this tactic before, starting at least as far back as Anita Hill.

2. As far as Trump's character, I think it is a stretch to say that he has the character of a rapist. However, it is crystal clear to me that any allegation of an affair or hush money paid to porn stars is well within his wheel house.
