DQ vs. NC

Ref discretion is the only out here. Maybe cuz the ref and Yan's corner both told Yan not to before it happened, so there's zero excuse for ignorance, while someone could make the terrible argument that Ank didn't know where Walker's knee was under themlm?

Both rightfully earned a DQ, but Ank escaped with a NC, and he should thank his lucky stars cuz that's some bullshit
 
Good question. He was kneeling, thus was considered “grounded”. Got kneed to the face, an illegal move. Should be a DQ.
The only thing I can think of is Walker being game and wanting to continue but the doctor asked for stoppage due to a concussion or something. Still weird no matter how you turn it.
Maybe the ref thought it was dangerous to give a DQ to that exact fighter in that exact place?

I thought it was a NC because enough time hadn't elapsed (early 1st round) vs Yan / Sterling which happened in the 4th round?
 
It's about "intent" and yan was warned by both the ref and corner not to do it And he did it anyway so it was ruled intentional thus a DQ. Ankl was ruled unintentional which we all know is bullshit but that's why he got a NC not a DQ. Rules should be held up stricter regardless of intent imo.

If 2 rounds had been completed and it was ruled an accidental foul it would go to the judges, yan was ruled intentional thus a DQ, if the walker ankle foul happened in the 3rd they would have went to the scorecards bc it was ruled an unintentional foul which is bullshit bc that could have led to him winning.

When it comes to intention, I'll just quote something I posted yesterday

I think the line in the sand SHOULD be "the fighter intentionally did the move that way and it was a foul" and not just "the fighter intentionally fouled."

Ignorance/negligence should not go unpunished. This situation isn't like intentionally throwing a leg kick at a guy who's moving so you accidentally hit his crotch. This situation is like intentionally front kicking straight up the middle of his legs and going "I didn't know his balls were there."

Even if you want to try and say you weren't trying to foul him, you did EXACTLY what you were trying to do and it was a foul.

I agree 100% we need to enforce the rules stricter and stop acting like it's ok if you didn't know. That's like me shaking my dick at ppl in public and then acting like I didn't know I couldn't do that in the grocery store and the cops letting me go bc of it. Ankle literally could have earned a decision win for commiting the foul as well had this been in the 3rd round bc then it would have went to the judges.

To add insult to injury, this ineptide/favoritism further muddies the LHW contender picture. Now Jiri-Poatan winner is going to end up fighting fooking Oezdemir or Krylov

As others have said, all comes down to referee’s discretion and intent. In the Yan fight, the referee determined Yan ignored his warning that Aljo was down and therefore the knee was intentionally breaking the rules. In this instance, the referee determined Ankalaev believed his opponent was not down and thus the foul was accidental.

Now, I personally believe anytime you’re determining intent it’s gonna be murky and I don’t really like it. I believe a foul is a foul and the fighter shouldn’t risk it if they’re not sure. Therefore DQ every time unless you can determine the blow was legal when they went to throw it but became illegal due to a rapid change in position.

Vince wanted dq reserved for wrestling only when one gets hit illegally by a steel chair. There is no no contests in wrestling.
