Don't you appreciate Mike Tyson so much more?

"The Baddest Man On The Planet" was claimed, and defended, in the mid 1980's, to the entire world. Tyson was a truly terrifying individual who shook the boxing world from a being a "show" to HIS brutal reality. Iron Mike's downfall was the start of a tragic ending of an explosive era in boxing.

Mike Tyson was around 220 pounds most of his fights.

At his heaviest he was 236 pounds for only maybe one or two fights.

I know what you’re saying, but that is a massive disservice to Ali.

He’s obviously massively overrated by casuals, as you infer, who have him as the clear, undisputed GOAT of all weight classes ever, but at the same time he’s still in the conversation for GOAT HW.

Oh definitely in the conversation sir.

true but tyson is the most overrated boxer in reality he’s the 3rd best heavyweight of his era. His best win is against a lhw spinx comming up and is 0-3 in his biggest fights against Lewis and Holyfield. To be the goat you can’t lose fights to all the legends you have fought !!!

How dare you assume my gender!

Depends what you class as his era. Mid to late 80s, Tyson was clear #1.

It’s why prime and age don’t always conform.

Lennox was actually older than Tyson, but peaked 10 years later.

Don’t think Liddell ever had that aura, tbh. Remember posting here back in the day, and a lot of people always thought he was overrated.
I was on Team Pride too. Always kept bringing up Rampage's win over Liddell in Japan

Zuffa Zombies kept bringing up how Chuck's corner just didn't want him to get hurt so they threw in the towel

I cheered when Rampage knocked his ass out.

That being said. We were all scared of Chuck in his prime. The forum I was on had these "what would you do if Chuck Liddell grabbed your gf's ass" threads...

Mike Tyson had the easiest strength of schedule of any elite combat sports fighter in history, tbh.

He was the ultimate can crusher, but his style and the timing of his run was the perfect storm for making him an icon.

If he was fighting right now, he’d have a bunch of haters all over social media complaining about his can crushing.

Prime iron mike is a stylistic nightmare for ANY top 5 hw at the moment.

Fury would have to be super on point to win a decision. One error and he's done. Aj would crumble in the first round like he crumbled against ruiz the first time. Deontay would probably go down 3 times in one round and if he doesnt land the bomb in the meantime it would be over as well.

You do know boxing pads records early on right? The best eventually reach the top and have to face each other. Evander was a cruiserweight before moving up. I do think that prison time he spent definitely hurt him.

The fact still remains he lost to the named HW. Lennox did get the better of Tyson when they were teens also. I don't think Tyson would've beat Lennox without the prison time.
Beg to differ. I think pre-convict Tyson would kill Lennox in the ring. He had the neccessary speed and reflexes to get inside and deliver the KO punches.

I remember reading in that infamous Lee Murray vs Tito brawl, word was Liddell put his back to a brick wall and 1 punch ko’ed about 4 fools who went after him!

That said, he’d been beaten a couple of times quite comfortably (Randy and Rampage) before his prime run, which lessened his sense of invincibility.

Chuck/Tito was seen as a 50/50 match up at the time, if memory serves.

Definitely remember everyone thought Couture would get thrashed by either, yet Randy whooped them both (TRT or not).

Why do you think that about Fury? People said the same about him and Wilder.

I think Fury stylistically whoops Tyson.

Forget about weight, Mike Tyson was 5'10 world heavyweight champion. You tell me the last time you saw anyone 5'10 fighting at heavyweight, MMA or boxing. Boxing HW average height is like 6'6 or something now. MMA heavyweight average height is like 6'4 or something. Mark Hunt is 5'10, he's about the last guy I can remember fighting at HW under 6 foot except some unusual exceptions like Melvin no fear Manhoef 5'8, or Minowaman 5'9, in unusual fights outside of their weight division. Most fighters ain't got that Mike Tyson HEART anymore.

Tyson unified ALL organizations. No more WBO, WBA, etc. bragging rights. He challenged ALL for their belts, and beat them all. No one before had called out everyone to be the undisputed HW champion.

You gathered all this by his big wins over a LHW Michael Spinks and a 40-year old Larry Holmes?

Tyson fans make the most excuses I’ve ever seen for a great athlete, btw.

If Fedor was taller, it wasn’t by much.

Lennox was already getting upperhand when they were teens.. Tyson coach told Tyson he would see Lennox later at the top. So no, I don't think he would kill Lennox lol
