Donald Trump's 10 Point Immigration Plan

Trump started out saying 4 billion (8 for anyone else but he could do it for 4 ) it quickly jumped to 12 plus but it would likely be much higher and then when finished it will cost a crap ton to upkeep

But then of course well ladders ...
This is laughable, even 12 billion, illegals and their children cost the US 100+ billion a year, thats no problem, but 12 bill, stop the presses!

When's the last time you saw maintenance on a freeway wall? That's right, walls are very low maintenance and easy to build. Start building those big ol cast walls like they do in Iraq, and it'll be done in no time. Look luck with hauling ladders to the middle of the desert, and risk breaking a limb on the fall to america.

Do you have a source for that number?

As one of the only people who answered this objectively, can you elaborate on 2? What should the proper protocol be when police detain someone who is here illegally?

Well, when it happens to Canadians, we are fined 5k and sent back as fast as possible. If there was an equal treatment across the board, the US would be doing that to mexicans --resulting in huge monetary gains and or a mass reduction is current / possible south of the border illegals. Obviously, the people coming from south of the border are dirt poor, thus fining them would be futile.

However, i see no reason why enforcing the law, while also more thoroughly tracking / cataloging the ones you do catch, and then deporting would be out of the question. You can repurpose DEA from the war on street level drugs and more into ICE territory.

As for the trickster illegals who have anchor babies, again, let the courts decide what to do there. You can be draconian about it to try to deter illegals from trying that route to circumvent deportation -- but not everyone is in favor of that.

Forgot about anchor babies. I'm starting to see the objections, but aside from "tricksters", I don't see the problem.

Why not I think its good.. you think it will just be to costly and still innefective?
I'm a Border Patrol Agent and have seen firsthand the ineffectiveness of "walls" and how they end up costing the taxpayers lots of money in medical bills for injured aliens on top of the massive cost of building them.

ah gotcha,

i do, but i can't reach far enough into my own asshole to get it for you.

Let me know if you need a hand. You're Liberal so I know you have no problem with me poking around back there.

The last 24 hours I've heard many do nothing but poo poo his immigration plan as being too mean and hateful, too racist, too white nationalist, too kkk-ish, too nazi...basically too everything that is unholy in the universe. But what I haven't heard is much substantive argument against it.

What do you guys think of this plan, substantively, and could it work? What are the pros and cons? How does it compare to our current immigration policy and culture?

Trump's 10 Point Immigration Plan

1. Build the wall

Trump has continued to stress that Mexico would pay for the wall, despite Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto’s tweet on Wednesday insisting that he personally told Trump his nation would do no such thing. Going off script in Phoenix, Trump complimented Peña Nieto and then said, “They don’t know it yet, but they’re going to pay for the wall.”

2. End “catch and release”

Trump says any immigrant in the country illegally who is arrested by law enforcement would be detained until they are deported.

3. Create a deportation task force and focus on criminals in the country illegally.

Trump says he would launch a “deportation task force” that would focus on removing undocumented residents with criminal records, along with those who have overstayed their visas or are using public resources or benefits.

4. Defund “sanctuary cities”

Trump says he would use the federal government to discourage cities from enacting policies that protect or aid undocumented residents. Such places are referred to by conservatives as “sanctuary cities.”

5. Cancel President Obama’s executive actions

The GOP nominee would end the Obama administration’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals immigration policy, better known as DACA, under which roughly half a million young people brought to the U.S. as children have received temporary legal status. Trump would also cancel President Obama’s DAPA program, or Deferred Action for Parents of Americans, which would give similar status to undocumented parents of American citizens. That program has been frozen as it faces court challenges.

6. Extreme vetting. Block immigration from some nations

Trump would block immigration from countries for which proper vetting is not possible. He says that would include Syria and Libya currently.

7. Force other countries to take back those whom the U.S. wants to deport

Trump did not specify how this might work but insisted he would force other nations to take back criminals and other undocumented residents the U.S. wants to deport.

8. Get biometric visa tracking system fully in place

Such a system would include biometric records, such as fingerprints or retinal scans, that could identify individuals with more precision as they enter the country.

9. Strengthen E-Verify, block jobs for the undocumented

The nominee did not offer specifics but said he would strengthen the E-Verify system so that undocumented residents would find it difficult or impossible to get work.

10. Limit legal immigration, lower it to “historic norms” and set new caps

In the past, Trump has indicated that some legal immigration should be curtailed (in August 2015 he proposed a temporary freeze on all green cards). But his Phoenix speech expanded on that idea. The Republican nominee is now calling for a commission to roll back the amount of legal immigration to “historic norms,” a phrase that implies a level that is lower than the current historic high (immigrants relative to total U.S. population). Trump said he would expect new immigration caps to be put in place.

I like it. Time for actual Americans to make America great again through hard work, education and procreation - not cheat methods.

I love fantasy time!!

Notice the giant corporations who exploit these people for slave wages will not be touched.

I thought there was no downside to illegal immigration, all parties benefit, and it's a net positive for society? So why would we punish corporations who are merely improving society?

Each country should help their countrymen first and foremost, obviously. We don't put residents of other countries ahead of our own.
That didn't really address my point. If we can help 1,000 immigrants who also provide benefits to our country but 1 of those 1,000 will commit crimes, should we refuse entry for the 999 good folks to stop the one? Wouldn't that be immoral?

But to address your post, of course we cannot help others to our own detriment, but what is the moral argument that people are more or less important based on boundaries? Let's assume we have the resources to help immigrants from Mexico, which we do sine all we are doing is allowing them to live here, why wouldn't we do it?

I just haven't heard a morally strong argument against Mexican immigration. Immigrants from the middle east is an entirely different issue.

Totally agree

Here's how we fix illegal immigration realistically

For every illegal you have working for you 100,000 dollar fine. Those who report it 10,000 bonus.

No one would even think of touching an illegal

But then again that would punish the rich and kill off the illegal immigration.

We should refuse entry to all illegal immigrants, not legal ones.

Of course people are more or less important based on borders. In Mexico, Mexicans are more important than Americans. It's why we have borders.

The argument is that immigration should be done properly. People should be vetted and they should be someone who is going to contribute to society.

Apparently many Sherdoggers haven't known anyone that took the legal route of immigrating to the United States. The Liberal plans of "immigration reform" is a big "fuck you!" to all legal migrants. Trumps is more reasonable, could be fine tuned but more reasonable nonetheless.
