Economy Donald trump to impose Tariffs feb.1st.

No he didn’t… lol

Trump used tariffs as a bargaining tool

You clowns are blind with TDS

Make no mistake, Canada would get fucking crushed in tariff war. They need US money coming in.

The average GDP per capita of Canada ranks below West Virgina… let that sink in

Trudeau can talk big… but it’s all show

Canada gets more subsidies than the poorest red states

Screaming TDS to legitimate criticism and following it up with a wall of tweets. I get it, formulating your own thoughts are hard. Never change Trumpers.

No, it’s an accurate take. You’re just a fool that believes anything you’re told as long as it’s from someone in your party.
I think my irony detector just exploded.

This is how it works, you go in with a more extreme stance to get people to meet you in the middle. Trump asked for 2 things, closing the gap in the trade deficit and more enforcement of drugs coming over the border. He got everyone to commit to border control, so he put a pause on the tariffs. He got what he asked for.

Tariff War
- Americans - Oh no! Maple syrup and some beer is more expensive
- Canada - Our entire economy is fucked

lol… you’re a moron with Stage 4 TDS. You have zero clue what you’re talking about

Oh yea maple syrup and beer lol you're even dumber than I thought.

"
Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) on Monday asked President Trump for an exemption for farmers on the sweeping tariffs he imposed over the weekend.

Why it matters: Republican lawmakers from agricultural states may find themselves in a tough spot as they try to avoid going against their party leader, while still protecting their constituents."

You don't understand what subsidies are

That’s true for Mexico but it’s already been shown in these threads that drugs are not flowing through the Canadian border in a meaningful number. So what did we really do here? Threaten and ally, threaten to renege on a deal that Trump himself signed during his first term that wasn’t open to renegotiation for another two years. Why would anyone deal with us right now?

A less meaningful number compared to mexico, perhaps.

Also, if enforcement is lax, how would you know how much is making it over the border?

That border plan was passed almost 2 months ago <lol>
So Trump went through that whole charade, alienated allies, sparked trade war fears, and made stocks tumble, just to be reminded by Trudeau that Canada just passed a border bill in December? And that was sufficient? Lmao you guys get played by Trump so badly that it would be hilarious if you weren’t bringing the rest of us down with you.

Wrong. It wasn’t meaningful at all. It was 43 pounds compared to the almost 30,000 pound hat makes it into the country every year.

I’m sure some makes it though fine. But even if it was like 10x the number caught, it’s not very significant.

I’ve asked multiple times in each of these threads and I have yet to see anyone come up with a good answer for why we were slapping tariffs on Canada. Now answer my question, would you deal with someone that reneges on their own damn deals? I’m guessing you didn’t answer the first time for a reason

Canada has been dragging it's feet with all of the things Trump got them to agree to for a long time. Sad it took a foreign leaders pressure to do it.

Everyone here was saying tariffs were a negotiation tactic. Even the libs admitted and were treating this as it was. Trump won the negotiation round, with Mexico folding and sending ten thousand troops to the border.

Libs: "TrUmP FoLdEd!!1!!1"
Trump said his want from Canada was for us to be the 51st state. That didn’t happen and trump folded before the tariffs were even implemented (or barely implemented). Canada reiterated what it said it would do back in December. Trump had internal pressure to not go through on the tariffs.

Nah.. we don’t want your shitty healthcare where the only doctors who don’t have 5 year wait times are the ones who help you kill yourself

Actually Sheinbaum gave Trump a good idea but he will never take it. In her address to Mexico she did say something to the effect of why is it that the United States has never done anything substantial with companies involved in the drug trade via money laundering? TD Bank and HSBC both were caught by the Feds money laundering for drug traffickers and all they got was a fine and a slap on the wrist. If you want to limit what countries can and can't do the better idea would be to crack down on the banks in America.

I don't know about that because I just went to the doctor and I have decent insurance through my employer. I had my heart looked at through an echocardiogram and hospitals charged my insurance over $6k for that stuff. Fucking ridiculous. Then after all of that I still owe the hospital $800. I'm not saying the Canadian way is perfect but fuck all this price gouging shit with American healthcare.

But you were told about them and it's pretty easy to check. You aren't denying they're there (because that would be idiotic, you know they are) and even in knowing...you STILL attempted to use the one post you replied to as evidence that the entirety of my view on this was "Dems have blame too".
I don't know they're there until you cite them.

Your post did blame Dems for not explaining how bad the tariffs are and that's what I was addressing. I also think it's emblem of your"both sides" posting.
It's bad faith, intellectually dishonest trash. You know it, I know it, anyone who reads it knows it.
You can assert that if you want but I stand by everything I said ITT and idk why you think I wouldn’t here. But if course others can decide for themselves.
Here's one thread I was posting in about it yesterday

Okay?

Making us the 51st state would most likely give us the US healthcare. Trump was told his tariff idea was stupid and he caved to internal pressure. Everyone was saying exactly what would happen. I’ll say it worked in Colombia and Panama (not sure if tariffs were on the table in Panama).

Just not sure why it’s so hard for trump supporters to admit he isn’t always right.

Yeah...pretty sure others see how you operate. Seeing this exchange and associating you with "bad faith" is what objective people will do. Maybe not always, IDK...but damn sure with most interactions with me.

Well, I think the answer with the tariffs is that they are clearly a scare tactic to get what he wants. If you look at the broader picture, I'd guess it's mostly about having both Mexico and Canada go into the new USMCA negotiations with the knowledge that tariffs aren't off the table. Whatever you may think about Trump, hard negotiation is his wheelhouse. It's how he's always operated and he's very good at it. He recognizes the power he has and he wields it.

In terms of dealing with the US, they're in a very unique position in being the most powerful nation in the world. Barring a complete shift of allies and declaring war on the US, you kind of have to deal with them and put up with their bullshit. They have too many tools in their toolbox to fuck you six ways from Sunday if you don't. They can starve you out in an economic war, and they can destroy you in a real war. At least in terms of nations like Mexico and Canada. It will never be a question of "if" we deal with them. Only "how". Until the power dynamic changes(which isn't impossible, but not happening anytime soon), America can pretty much do what it wants. This isn't exactly the first time America has slapped it's allies in the face. They still come back. The honey is too sweet.

The best negotiator ever. It’s sad MAGA doggers ingest so much Oligarch owned media. They are spinning a win for something that never changed and then they go see Trump is the best and I hope he runs for a third term.
While Elon busy taking your social security and Medicare away lets keep people talking about a fake trade war.
