Does anyone find the UFC boring. They have no stars or storylines. WMMA..

The storyline is in the way they fight, knowing their history is not important they way they pick themselves up and push themselves during the fight when they can pull out a win or a surprise is the story.

The word you're looking for is "rivalries". There are plenty of storylines, both long-term and short-term:

Who's the real HW champion? as the anticipation builds for Jones-Aspinall, which will be huge.

Is Pereira actually a rising GOAT candidate or simply the beneficiary of right place/right time matchmaking? as his career continues to play out.

The DDP-Izzy bad blood.

After being slow tracked to the title, Belal vows to take on all comers and cement his legacy. Can he?

Is Topuria as shook by Max as he looked?

And on down the rankings: Will Gaethje ever be the same? Is Bo Nickal the real deal or a hype job? Is Dominick Reyes really back? Can Oliveira make another run? etc.

I guess this is the problem with doing real fights. You can give fighters with personality certain advantages but they still have to win the fights. And eventually, you will have to put belts on boring guys if they keep winning

Vince McMahon should book UFC. Then we'd get great storylines, some HLA and freakshow fights like the Big Show vs. Rey Mysterio.

it's not completely necessary, but it helps A TON. back in the late 00's early '10's, the fertittas when they were still running things, actually tried moving the ufc, and essentially mma as a whole, way more into pure sports than entertainment when they first moved to fox. i actually remember a few first fights where they showed a bunch of pointless stats like they do in baseball and football, and i told myself this shit isn't going to last lol. mma is not like those ballsports. it's just not.

in a way, and it's kind of sad, the truth is that the action during a fight plays second fiddle to the emotional investment fans have to the fighters fighting. guaranteed if donald trump and joe biden were fighting on one corner, and valentina shevchenko was fighting zhang weili on the other, to use the old dana metaphor, which fight are you gonna watch?
I understand I'm going to be in the vast minority here, but I'm catching Weili vs Shev. I couldn't give two shits about random drama between celebrities.

There have been some great storylines in MMA

Jones/DC
Alex/Izzy
Tito/shamrock
Conor/Khabib

Now the UFC has some great fighters but no great storylines or drama. This makes the whole UFC boring, there have been ma y cards I have not even bothered to watch.

Wmma without any stars is just a dead division.

UFC has become stale. They need more stars, more drama, more storylines.
Many of you guys that need "stars" or "storylines" to watch people fight are just children that never let go of the WWF.

People are fighting in a cage ffs...does it make a difference if the UFC writes a script for them?

You guys are part of the reason shit is trending this way, and I don't mean that as a compliment sir.

MMA fans are sensitive because they're just the reflection of a pro-wrestling fan, and don't want to be.

"story-lines" exist in all sports.

scoring races, underdog runs, comebacks stories, redemption, revenge, ect.

and it makes them more popular and exciting.

who gives a fuck? pro wrestling is for dweebs.

go on social media if you want drama. i watch fights because i wanna watch fights. i dont give a FUCK about what cunts on Twitter are saying!

You came out swinging here and I respect the fuck out of that sir lol.

I think you should be looking at pro-wrestling.
And I am dead serious.

Because while they do not really fight, they have writers just for the "drama" or as you call, "Storylines".

Because quite honestly, most of the "storylines" were nothing but a confirmation that MMA is cockfighting. This alone has held MMA back for decades!
I rather watch guys to see who's the better fighter than someone like Colby that is basically a clown, a made up persona instead of the athlete who should be fighting instead of waiting for one more fight he does not deserve just because "he moves the needle".

I stop watching all other sports because I hate the storyline bullshit tbf.

I don't believe that for one second.

I can't believe anyone who legitimately enjoys baseball, can watch the Trea Turner arch, or a home run race, ect. and go... this is just too dramatic. I'm done with this sport.

My fav was the jones jones vs the law and jon jones vs USADA.

He beat USADA by tko via pulsing exemption before USADA was fired.

His rivalry with the law continues

Anyone with a yellow belt on Sherdog, pretending they don't enjoy the drama, is lying to themselves.

Why is the WNBA making so much money recently? They got really good at basketball over the summer?

or maybe it's because they have a massive star, who has a rival doing heel things, with a hint of race issues thrown in

Its more about the injected drama, not the sport itself.
I don't need people to tell me who to be hyped/excited about.

I grew up a Red Sox fan and when we finally won the world series...against our biggest rival...coming back from 0-3 deficit in a 7 game series....THAT was fuckin dramatic, because it had never been done before.

If I remember correctly it had only happened on e in sports history and that was in hockey.

Never watched regular sports after that because that was REAL drama... old men crying on tv kind of drama.
After that everything paled in comparison, except fighting.

I don't need a storyline to watch people fight, hell I'd watch you beat somebody's ass in my backyard...no story needed sir.

No hate against you brother, just how I see things.

Context goes a long way with your statement...and you're not telling the whole "story" here sir.
