Does anyone else think Jon doesn't need Tom?

His resume is already stacked and with bigger names.

And your mind is already made up about him: you either have him as GOAT/way up there or you think he cheats.

Boner needs to quit beating his meat and give that belt back.

UFC's HW needs to be reinvigorated and it can't do that without a face. It needs an active Champion that defends regularly and brings back that big fight feel.

No matter his reasons, it seems juvenile to hold back a division this long, teasing a fight you don't need, want to take, or whatever.

Whether you call duck or not, do you agree that it would be best for the company to strip the title to see the division grow? (Doubtful he will just hand the belt back).

Because Jon taking a weird fight here and there isn't cutting it and having a new Champion that actively defends would seem like a good way to start to reinvigorate the division.

What are some ideas for reinvigorating HW to have that big fight feel when it hosts HW fights?
IMO Jon does need Tom.

Jon isn't GOAT but he is the GOAT LHW with an asterisk for cheating. He also only ever fought as the younger guy or the bigger guy. Even Gus who was almost Jon's size is older. Jon fought MW's and Old LHWs. He never fought the next generation at all.

His HW resume is equivalent to GSP beating Dave Menne for the MW title. Jon facing Tom would cement him as a true bad ass and a win would cement him as GOAT above GSP. Simple fact is the UFC is to blame for this situation. They should never have given Jon the keys to the castle.

One final Jon fight is in no way worth putting the HW division on mothballs which is basically what has happened. Was Jon vs Stipe worth more then 3 years of HW title fights?

Aspinal only matters to Jon’s legacy because Jon acknowledged the possibility of them fighting.

Jones is a 'P4P' GOAT when he could have just been the GOAT. I know most halfwit MMA fans don't understand the difference, but there is. Only HW really matters.

And his HW run has been a joke. It will be remembered like Roy Jones vs John Ruiz - i.e not at all - rather than like a proper HW run like Holyfield or Usyk.

Anyone that thinks he has 'secured his legacy' by beating a French kickboxer and a retired fireman is a fool. His failure to fight Aspinall or Ngannou will be assessed very poorly in the future.

Nah i think it's more like i don't need the ufc anymore.

Even if he pretended he didn't exist and never mentioned him, fans would have wanted Jones to fight the #1 contender eventually. People act like tom has one good win. Yeah that's typical for a hw title shot sure, but Tom had 5 top then wins. there's no other logical contender, it's Tom or blatant ducking.
