Do you think DDP will go back to drawing board and practice crucifix escape for days and days ?

That showed some serious levels to the game. It is fucking hard to do that to someone good, over and over like that. Those who know, know.
Maybe DDP is not that good.

One aspect he and a lot of other so called «good» wrestlers seem to be missing is what Khabib, Islam, Khamzat, (maybe also GSP), etc, have in common in their wrestling and overall approach - relentlessness. When those guys get a hold of you, they do everything in their power to keep it that way. When they almost get a hold of you and you're still stumbling, they immediately go to the next best opportunity to grab you before you fully recover. That's why guys like Marty, Whittaker and DDP, who may fight more calmly and calculated, end up looking like «slobs» and have a hard time with this type of competition.

If that fight doesn't scream a complete rewrite of the playbook, what performance would it take? New camp, new coaches, new everything. What other option is there? DDP's not making 170lbs, and he'll struggle to be a top-10 at LHW. So I guess he can keep fighting at 185lbs, hope someone else knocks Chimaev off for him, so that he can try to regain his belt and then defend against the same guy who just beat the crap out of you for 25 minutes again??

Rewrite the playbook folks.

it's the mother of all momentum killers for sure. i don't know what he does now, to be honest. in hindsight that's a nightmare matchup problem. he's pretty much in that fitch / JDS position now where really all he can do is sit back and wait for someone to dethrone the champ he'll never beat.

That was embarrassing how easily Khamzat put him in that position everytime they hit the ground LOL.

DDP got by with brute strength in the grappling department. He clearly is very weak skill and technique wise

His coach used to taze him with a cattle prod

maybe time for this now for crucifix training?

Start with TDD. It looked like he had no clue what Kaz was going to do....through the whole fight.

Ya, i was surprised how easily he did for 25 mins straight. Like Kaz's coach said DDP's coaches should be fired.

I’ve thought out of the top dagi wrestlers who performed the best against them when they were grappling?

Volk in the first fight with Islam. DDP should seek out the grappling coaches and hire some high quality dagi grapplers not associated with Khamzat’s team so he can learn takedown defense, submission defense, and hot to avoid being put it dominant control positions like the crucifix. He can keep his team, just hire grappling / bjj coaches, like Khabib did by using his father while training at AKA at the same time.

It's extremely hard to get out of crucifix. You can be Khamzat on his back and someone has him on a crucifix. It won't be easy for Khamzat or anyone who's great in grappling to get out of that position. The key is try not to get into one in the first place.

DDP is gonna take time off for sure the guy can't come back until he has some kind of grapple defence.. he needs to learn hand control use his hips and broaden his defence and also maybe get some form of tdd
