Movies Do You Still Go To The Movie Theater?

I don't miss it. But, there are some movies that are just not the same unless you do like the first Avatar, Dances with Wolves, and the Rocky Horror Picture Show.

I saw the new John Wick spinoff film last night and there was like 10 people in the entire theater. And that was including me and my buddy. Definitely a sign of the times.

Last movie i saw in theaters was John Wick 3. Honestly with ticket prices and concession prices it was like $100 for 2 people. I usually either download a torrent or just stream it . I have a 75in 4k oled TV and a 5.1 Dolby system so i would rather be at my home relaxed than drive, park, deal with loud people and pay out the ass. I will save my money to go out to eat or just buy something tangible that's kept forever
These days cunts think it's OK to take phone calls, talk all through the movie or have their smart phone and watch blowing up your eyeballs and distracting you from the movie, taking you out of the moment. Other people's cunty behaviour ruins cinema compared to say the 90s or even early 2000s

Not since Oblivion (2013).
Too many people can wreck it these days so I watch from the comfort of my home.

Plus not that many movies impress me in current times so the juice often isn't worth the squeeze

If I lived in LA, I'd go broke frequenting all the revival houses in the city.

Not a ton but from time to time if there's something I want to check out I still like going out to see a movie. There are also good independent theaters here which run specialty screenings of older movies, sometimes on film as well

That is why I am very particular about where and when I see movies. A few years ago I didn't follow my own rules and saw Black Panther 2 in an area known for "diversity". This big black dude took a call mid movie and was on the phone for 15 minutes. People were shushing him and he stood up and basically challenged the whole theater to "make him stop". I got up and left and got a refund.

In Hong Kong had 2 Asian ( Indian?) dudes think it was appropriate to have a phone call

Just absolute cunts

If you wanna talk, play with your phone etc go to fucking Starbucks or a bar. Not a movie screen

I’m there usually multiple times per month. I absolutely love the experience and nothing will ever compare to seeing a movie with a huge crowd.

I don't see how the number of viewers changes things

The screen size, the sound etc yeh

But the number of other people disturbing the main event? Na. It's not a sports contest

Depends on the movie but seeing something like Endgame, for instance, with a packed theater was a special experience.

Theaters are great but:

1. Everything is absurdly expensive, even more so nowadays

I went recently to see that movie Sinners, and got a small bottle of water for $10.
That's why I bring my own refreshments LOL

I was a HUGE fan of seeing Marvel movies in the theaters. But then.... 2023 came around. The Marvels was the last straw.

I still go but not often. Last movie I saw in theaters was Nosferatu.

The theater near me has tickets for $5 on Tuesdays. Last time I went was to see Gladiator 2. I don't go watch movies very often.

Very rarely. If I go, I prefer to go early without all the crowds. I hate all the trailers before the movie. There is a drive-inn in my town that I may go to one of these days.

I like the premise. Reminds me of Jurassic Park meets Kong: Skull Island. But the teaser trailer did not really sell me on it. I'm not sure it'll be available in a lot of theaters globally since this is made by Sparke Films, an independent Australian company. But if reviews are good, I'll watch it at home.

Got the Cinemark Movie Club membership. The free movie every month is worth it, imo. Still hit up some matinees on Saturdays for newly released movies. As some have said in here, it's just different at the theater.
