Do you eat at restaurants alone?

In college I used to eat out at smorgs all the time, read the paper or study, 4 or 5 plates. Now not so much, the wife says its anti-social blah blah blah and all that

Same. Now that I’m older and in a long term relationship, stuff like that happens way less. When I was younger I did shit alone all the time. I’ve been to concerts alone, movies alone, restaurants alone... I’ve loved doing shit alone since I was a kid.

Nothing better than to go to a movie alone!

I probably did that 300 times.

No, but for no other reason than there was never any reason to. If I go to a restaurant it is so I can have company with friends. If I'm gonna be by myself I might as well order the food to go and eat while I'm watching TV or something.

Though this wasn't a restaurant, in college I'd eat at the student dining by myself all the time... say I'm grabbing a quick bite before lecture. I know people who would never do that in a million years because they'd feel like losers.

I hate insecure folks like that... see my thread on not caring about what others think.

Yeah. Not a ton, but more than a few times for sure.

When me and my first ex were on the rocks, one of the things she told me was that she always used to socialize whenever she ate. Never ever did she eat alone, until she met me. Then she started feeling like she had to for some reason. Guess I was supposed to feel guilty about that or something?

Anyway I'm married now so fuck that dumb cunt she couldn't even get a real job.

I am an adult so yes, all the time. People who are insecure about eating out alone are children.

Leaving out Elisabeth Shue, that movie is offensive. Then, there was Kokomo. It was released with the movie, as it was on it's soundtrack. It was on every radio station and seemed to play every hour. You heard it playing when cars drove by. You heard it in stores. It was inescapable. I saw more than a few gross moms trying to dance sexy to it. In their gross mom jeans...

Finally, the air was let out. Inadvertently, Full House put the kibosh on it. Uncle Jesse's infatuation with the Beach Boys was it's demise.

After that, there was nothing left.

I actually saw this episode at a friend's house. My friend's older brother, Mike, has pretty bad mood swings and has bursts of anger. There's a scene with toddler, Michelle. The Beach Boys are with the Full House clan, and the kid does a corny/cutesy quip. "Kokomo!" I guess the audience is supposed to go "Awwww... Oh, Michelle!" Not Mike. Nope. He yells, "Little goddamn bitch!" Man, he was cranked. I thought that it was a little too much. Kokomo did make me cranky, though.
try this on

Unfortunately, I don't have any friends in my city, so I'm eating alone

I didn't make a habit out of it, or anything. If I'm hungry and a restaurant is there, I will go in and eat alone. It's no big deal.

I do get a kick out of the stigma that it's kind of weird though, considering the other things people do alone in public.

Eating alone at a restaurant: Very odd. Must be some lonely loser. Don't make eye contact.

Drinking alone at a bar: Completely normal. Probably just getting away from the wife.

Breakfast at a diner: Yes
Happy Hour at a nice restaurant: Yes
Nice restaurant for dinner: Fuck no

I would never eat be able to eat Pho, Korean BBQ, Sushi or a lot of other things if I didn't as no one I know cares for them.

A nice restaurant would be a little weird but it's not uncommon to see people eating alone at diners and fast food. Especially nowadays with smart phones. When the last Rambo came out, I took a day off work, ate breakfast at IHop and then went to the first showing at the movie theater. It was a good day.

I love eating out alone, i treat it as kind of spoiling myself. Nothing wrong with this however I do find it uncomfortable going to the theatre alone to watch movies.

I pretty much hate doing anything alone, but your not always gonna find a companion, I'm especially thinking about eating out for breakfast. You need breakfast to be served hot and I love a good breakfast joint.

So sherbros do you mind eating out alone?

I love it, as any self-respecting grown man should.
