Do you eat at restaurants alone?

A nice restaurant would be a little weird but it's not uncommon to see people eating alone at diners and fast food. Especially nowadays with smart phones. When the last Rambo came out, I took a day off work, ate breakfast at IHop and then went to the first showing at the movie theater. It was a good day.

Yes I do. I go to the movies alone too.

Ate at a korean bbq once and I had 6 plates of meat all to myself. It was great.

Come at me Sherbros!

You go and flirt with the waitstaff. They’re probably bored out of their minds.

I’ve done it when travelling for work, it’s fairly normal in hotel bars / restaurants obviously. If that’s not an option I go somewhere casual like Nando’s.

all the time
it's better to be alone than in bad company

I used to always eat alone during my breaks at work, I prefer actually enjoying my food and listen to music or watching something on my phone than having meaningless small talk with people I would never hang out with outside of work.

Pre pandemic i was a breakfast counter warrior at my local greasy spoons.

Frequently.
I am far more adventuresome than my wife and children. They want Outback or Red Robin every time, and these are perfectly acceptable, but I love trying the hole-in-the-wall places or having something I've never had.
Also my wife spends a lot of time in her roles as either 1) dance mom with our daughter at either practice or competitions, or 2) professional photographer out with a client (usually after normal hours when they are off work) so I'm fending for myself. My teenage son joins me now sometimes, but he isn't quite as adventurous and he would rather drive his truck and hang out with other teenagers because, well, teenager.
Anyway, it doesn't bother me at all. I prefer company, but honestly the compromise, coordinating, and convincing it takes to get company takes the spontaneity and fun out of it for me. And picking up Styrofoam boxes for everyone to eat at home is not even close to satisfying.

LOL at the insecure losers here. Lots of people here want to cast an alpha shadow but are scared to eat alone? I’ve done it regularly at every hour in my younger days, now less because it became pricey. I like a quiet lunch at a casual place. If I go to a nice restaurant, I eat at the bar during happy hours and talk with random posh customers on booze I usually wouldn’t get involved with in the first place. Nothing wrong with going out alone for well adjusted people.

When not under COVID travel restrictions, I'm always out and about for work. On the road about 2 weeks a month, so eating alone is pretty common. Every now and then I'll get something to go and eat in the hotel, but that's a pretty sad day/evening. Going out is more enjoyable

Well seeing how I may be a little on the introverted side. I eat out alone quite a bit. I don’t think I actually dine @ a restaurant super often ,but I order alone. I’m also not great at at managing and organizing my schedule. So it’s a self fulfilling prophecy if that term works in this context

I absolutely love it and rarely get the chance.

To be able to just sit and enjoy the food and ambiance without social awkwardness is fucking bliss.

No, at work lunch I always eat in my truck so I can listen to the radio or a podcast. When I'm not working and I get food alone, I take it home and eat it. I don't think I've ever eaten at a restaurant alone.
